Hobby groups in Dagenham

Maybe not the best book I've ever read, but definitely in the best book I've read in a decade. It's incredibly powerful. Such real and (mostly) likeable characters. Also, I knew nothing about the Nigerian civil war before this, so I feel like I learned some things as well. It was interesting to see how Nigeria coped in the early days of their independence, and it was interesting to learn the lasting effects of European colonialism. But, being a book about war, be prepared for some harrowing and upsetting scenes. I'm not much of a crier, but I cried over this one.

It is a heartbreaking display of pain, emotions and toxic relationships and a path to finding a better path for oneself even after bad circumstances

The characters feel real and it explores the way people desire connection in ways that are very true to life.

A look into the closed life of female members of the FLDS (Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints) especially Carolyn Jessop who documents her life story and eventual escape from the many abuses she suffered.
