Seeking a book club
I'd love to join a local group near Southend or Rochford. I'm currently reading John of John by Douglas Stewart who also wrote Shuggie Bain which was a 5* read for me. I like modern contemporary fiction but like to read a couple of classics a year. This year it was The Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck and So Long, See you Tomorrow by William Maxwell. My current favourite authors are Elizabeth Strout, Donal Ryan, Helen Garner, Colm Toibin and Kevin Barry. I've got a bit of a block on the romantasy genre and anything formulaic. My controversial opinion is I don't like Lily King or other overhyped modern fiction. But I do read it, to be sure.

Walking
Rochford and Castle Point Ramblers is a walking group that organises led walks every Tuesday morning from 10:00, with occasional walks at weekends. Routes are usually 5 to 8 miles and take in Rochford and Castle Point, much of South Essex, and sometimes parts of London and Kent. Walks are planned to end around 1:00pm and include a mid-walk break for coffee, with a pub meal sometimes arranged afterwards.
