MystyAngel (Basingstoke)

Seeking a book club

I'm Mercy, a trainee Occupational Therapist and mum based in Basingstoke. Reading has always been one of my favourite ways to relax, learn, and escape into different worlds. Since moving to the area, I'd love to meet like-minded people and become part of a local community. I'm looking to join a book group because I enjoy hearing different viewpoints, exploring books I wouldn't normally choose, and sharing thoughtful discussions in a friendly setting.

Leti (Eastleigh)

Seeking a book club

Hi!! I’m Leti, 29, and I’m a bit of an all-round reader. I enjoy fiction, thrillers, drama and classics, but I’m always open to discovering new genres and themes. If anyone is interested in sharing a coffee, chatting about books and getting to know new people along the way, I’d absolutely love to join! Here are some of my recent reads :)) * The Angel’s Game (kind gotic and dark! loved) * Resurrection * A Room of One’s Own (10/10) * People We Meet on Vacation (Love the book, hated the movie) * Portrait in Sepia (7/10 not my favorite from Isabel Allende, but I love her writting) * The Mysterious Bookshop of Cherry Trees * Don’t Lie!!!

Nick (Southampton)

Seeking a book club

I really enjoy reading the classics, especially the great Russian authors. It would be interesting to discuss the big questions these books pose. Another persons perspective would add further layers to the work. I am semi-retired and have now got the time to deep dive into great works of literature. I live in Southampton.

Nick recommends:

The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

Laëtitia (Basingstoke)

Seeking a book club

I love mythology, fantasy, sci-fi. The more whimsical a world you can get lost in the more drawn in I am to explore it. Growing up I was obsessed with Percy Jackson and the Immortal instruments series. Looking for a small group with similar interests and to rekindle my love of reading.

Laetitia (Basingstoke)

Seeking a book club

I'm turning 27 years old soon. I've no money and no prospects. I'm already a burden to my parents. And I'm frightened. So don't judge me, Lizzie. Don't you dare judge me. :( Used to love books growing up but lately it's been hard to get into anything.

Lydia (Southampton)

Seeking a book club

Hi! I am 27 & have just moved to the Southampton area and am looking for like-minded people who love a good book! I love fiction and will read almost any subgenre - fantasy, historical, sci-fi you name it! Ultimately I just love a book that will move me - the best books make me laugh, cry & all the emotions in between. Would love to meet new friends who also share my passion for reading.

I love the rare occurrence when a book feels like the author must have somehow seen inside your head to so accurately convey thoughts & feelings you have previously experienced. This book was that for me and was a wonderful reminder that our shared human experience is more similar than we often realise!

Sam (Bordon)

Seeking a book club

I’m a mum to tweens, wife to a Freemason so he is off out multiple times a week. I’m a late diagnosed Audhd which came alongside a C-PTSD diagnosis too. I’m estranged from my family by choice which also included 3 sisters who I do miss dearly. I’m lonely. Being late diagnosed I don’t have any friends as they all fizzled out over the years. I’m comfortable with being alone but now and again knowing that my boys will fly the nest at some stage, I do need some company from other humans at some point. I thought this could be a gentle foot in the door. I’m currently reading The Castle by Jon Ronson which is the first of his books I have read but will definitely be getting more of his. I’m open to most reads and love getting lost in books.
