Hi, Becky, 39, female! I’ve played a lot of different TTRPG’s over the last 9 years. I’ve just moved to Somerset, living in Langport and looking for a local TTRPG to play with. Please get in touch if you have space for a player.

Greg

Seeking a book club

37 year old living in Taunton. I love to read and I'm particularly big on fantasy (and any subgenres), although I enjoy reading other genres too. I'm looking to connect with other bookish people in the area as most of my friends are not interested in reading. Looking to join a club or just connect with people, so feel free to reach out!

Greg recommends:

Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree

A cozy fantasy based around an orc who hangs up her weapon in favour of setting up a coffee shop. If you love found family and a general sense of whimsy, I would definitely recommend picking this up.

Ryan

Seeking a book club

I'm Ryan, 31, and love fantasy and horror. Just moved to the area and trying to find some book friends. If I'm not reading I'm likely hiking, pottering around the garden centre, or trying to write my first novel.

Ryan recommends:

The Goblin Emperor

A devastatingly beautiful story of court intrigue and murder mystery about an unlikely elf who inherits a throne.

Whimsical and reminiscent of a wonderful childhood story. Great solo read and is a fantastic introduction to the Cosmere if you'd to like to jump into the larger series.

Claire

Seeking a book club

I am a qualified English teacher and have an MA in Creative Writing. I would like to join a group that discusses books from a literary criticism perspective or who discuss literary fiction rather than popular fiction (although, of course, a book can be both literary and popular!)

Jack

Seeking a book club

Hi all, I'm Jack, mid twenties and going through my reformed reader phase, getting back into it after a while away! I'm a fan of the weird, and have been focusing on slipstream, philosophical SF and anything looking at the social and political, but I would love to start covering more classics, fantasy and graphic novels. I love new ideas and would love to be part of discussions, hear new ideas from people and otherwise build a nice space to learn about new things.

Jack recommends:

The Good Angel of Death by Andrey Kurkov

It has all the sarcastic and humanistic sensibilities of Terry Pratchett's language, but in scenarios you'd think were possible and people you can wholly imagine yourself wanting to meet. It's a wonderful thing to be able to have small snorts of laughter each page whilst still feeling terribly sad about the whole thing as the way Kurkov writes seems to make it clear that everything will end at some point.

Jack

Seeking a book club

Hi! My name is Jack, in my mid-twenties and I am looking to join a book club. I seem to enjoy literary fiction with quite a few of my favourites being postmodern sort of stuff. I also go for psychological fiction as well as some thrillers. I am keen and open to broadening that scope though! My favourite author is Vonnegut I would say but I read books very different to his style too. I am looking to have people to discuss a book with!
