Tetiana

Seeking a book club

My name is Tanya, 72, and I moved to Nailsea from Surrey recently to be closer to my family. I would like to join the reading club because reading is what I do in my spare time, mainly historical novels. Also Iโ€™d like to meet new friends with similar interests. I started reading early, but really enjoying reading since I became a teenager, and it was mainly classical literature. I found for myself French writers like George Sand, Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas, Honore de Balzac, Emil Zola, later Scottish R. L. Stevenson and Thackeray, I didnโ€™t enjoy reading Charles Dickens, I found his books dark and gloomy. I am also familiar with Russian, German and American literature. Theodore Dreiser is among my favourites.

Looking for a D&D table in and around Nailsea area. I've just finished DMing a 3 year totally custom campaign that made it all the way to lvl 20 which was cool. It was online, so I'm really looking to start playing in person. I'm mid 30s.

Derek

Seeking a book club

I am 71 years old, retired male, married with 2 grown up children. We have lived in Backwell for 27 years, I have always read widely until recently, (possibly due to my age), and would like to rekindle my interest in literature. Although I enjoy most genres I have a special interest in crime., historical and science fiction.

Apart from enjoying the authors style, (crisp, sharp and precise), I think he conjures up the atmosphere of the period and location very effectively. It is the kind of book that allows you to lose yourself in the story and characters so that you don't consciously think about what you are reading you just feel immersed in the plot.
