SW London Book Club

Book club

πŸ“šβœ¨ Calling All Book Lovers in SW London! βœ¨πŸ“š I've been wanting to start a local book club for a while, and it's finally happening! We're looking for fellow book lovers in SW London who'd like to get together once every couple of months to chat about a chosen book, discover new reads, and, most importantly, enjoy plenty of bookish conversations (my favourite part!). We'll be reading a mix of fiction and non-fiction, with all genres welcome, so whether you love fantasy, thrillers, romance, literary fiction, memoirs, history or anything else, there's a place for you. If you'd like to join us, just send me a message with: πŸ“– A little about yourself πŸ“š The kinds of books you enjoy reading πŸ’ One book you'd love us to read as a group The hope is to create a friendly, relaxed space where we can meet new people, share recommendations, and enjoy our shared love of books over a coffee (and maybe a slice of cake too! β˜•πŸ“šπŸ°). If this sounds like your kind of thing, I'd love to hear from you. And if you know someone who'd enjoy it, please do share this post with them! Can't wait to meet some fellow bookworms! 🀍

Seeking a book club

Hi all, my name is Kristian. I’m in my early 20s and have recently moved back to London. I have been trying to get back into a reading practice, and hopefully make some friends along the way. For fiction, I like to read classics with a philosophical skew, but I am quite happy to read pretty much anything interesting that broadens my perspective of the world. For non-fiction books, I am again pretty open. I have tended to read mostly on economics, politics, philosophy, sociology, social critique, psychoanalysis / psychology. I’m much less keen on self-help books. I’m looking to meet around once a month. Contact me if our interests align!

Hi everyone! 😊 I’m always looking for my next book obsession. I love romance with great chemistry, emotional depth, and a bit of suspense. Some of my favourites are Ana Huang’s books, the Windsor series, the Made series, and the Deception series. Always happy to swap recommendations and discover new favourites! πŸ“šβœ¨

Giulia

Seeking a book club

Hi everyone! I'm looking to join a book club to make friends and to push myself to read more. I grew up an avid reader but in the age of technology and social media and having a desk job I lost my reading sparkle. I read all kinds of books but I gravitate towards the classics, thrillers, mistery, true crime, sci-fi if it's not the boring or spicy kind that read like fanfic. I just got a brand new bookcase so please help me fill it!

Giulia recommends:

Crying in H Mart
by Michelle Zauner | Learn more and buy
This is the true story of Michelle Zauner, lead vocalist of Japanese Breakfast. It's an extremely personal portrait of a multi-cultural family dealing with dysfunction and loss, mainly through home-made korean cuisine. It resonated with me on a deep level and I found myself enraged, crying with grief and laughing throughout the book.

Seeking a book club

Hi, I am 34, South Asian from East London. I love reading all kinds esp. thrillers, mystery, detective stories, fantasy, sci-fi, women's literature and occasionally rom-coms. Currently alternating between thrillers/mystery (in an Agatha Christie chokehold atm) and books similar to Beth O Leary's Flatshare. Full confessionβ€”I don't like Sarah J Maas's style of Romantasy books. I would love to meet up with fellow bookworms and dissect a book for hours over a non-alcoholic beverage of choice. Frequency is very variable but once or twice month to begin with would be ideal.
