The Chats & Chapter Club

Book club

The Chat & Chapter Club is a relaxed book club for people who love a good read, a good glass of wine, and even better conversation. We enjoy diving into books and sharing thoughts, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously — discussions naturally wander from plot twists to life updates, recommendations, and a bit of friendly waffle. There’s no pressure to be an academic or finish every page; it’s about enjoying stories, company, and a welcoming space where books spark conversation and wine keeps things flowing.

Seeking a book club

Hi, I live in Newton Aycliffe. I enjoy a good book and would be interested to listen to other opinions on books read. Im not a great talker but would just be happy to be in a group where I can listen and perhaps pluck up the courage to contribute at some point. I think an online club would work better for me.

Seeking a book club

I recently rediscovered my love of reading with crime and mystery novels, and love nothing more than a good ā€˜who done it’ that has you hooked from the start and leaves you guessing until the very end. I also quite like the fantasy/romance genre, and I’m open to try new books. I’m looking to meet new people.

Jinks

Seeking a book club

Outgoing, friendly mature lady, young at heart. I am a married retired lady who enjoys other people's company and exchanging views. I have always loved reading and my latest novels have been Robert Harris, Enclave, V2 and The second sleep. I have also read a few historic novels of Ken Follit but then I really enjoyed David Mitchell's Unruly and Kieth Lowe's Savage Continent. I enjoy a variety. I am happy to meet day time or evenings. I look forward to meeting new people and after speaking to my niece about her latest Book Club choice I have sent for Weyward by Emelia Hart. Jinks

Laura

Seeking a book club

I’m a transplant to the UK from the US, 43, and a longtime book lover. I read mostly literature—classic and contemporary—but I’m also up for philosophy or non-fiction, anything that makes me stop to rethink the human condition. I would love to join a group or meet a friend interested in chatting about books and life over a coffee or on a walk (perhaps with my pup in tow)šŸ™‚

Impossible to pick favorite books, but this is one that I return to every few years and get some new richness that I either missed or had not lived long enough to fully appreciate. I love the way Tolstoy lets us into even the most seemingly minor characters’ minds for glimpses of ourselves, no matter how different we might consider ourselves to the personalities or choices represented. Every character is both flawed and beautiful in their way, everyone the main protagonist in their own story.

I'm retired and live alone. A book group would be a way of meeting people with similar interests. I've always loved reading - thrillers, romantic suspense, and historical fiction mainly but I'll try anything but Sci-fi and fantasy.

Susie recommends:

I'd already read the following two books and enjoyed them This one shows two of the main characters growing up and why they became the people they did. It's a fascinating story clearly based on accurate research.
