Practising Plunderers (Maesteg)

Gaming group

Hello! A GM and a player looking for 3 others to play premade modules with us, we both have years of experience. We have a car and are willing to go as far as Swansea or Bridgend. Able to rent a free room from nerd stores for sessions. Prefer those that can attend in person. We are both story and role-playing centric, though don't neglect combat, decently 'rule of cool' GM (don't straight up break the rules and be feasible though). Either physical or dndbeyond (or equivalent) character sheets can be used. We wish to play on a semi-regular basis, one session every 1-2 weeks. First premade module we are playing is The Lost Mines of Phandelver. We then plan on going to do other preset adventures and modules. We later wish to try Curse of Strahd and Tyranny of the Dragons later down the line. New or veteran welcome, just learn your character sheet (please).

Ellis (Maesteg)

Seeking a gaming group

Hi, my name is Ellis. I’m 20 years old (he/him), and I’m an amateur DM who’s looking for a new group. I mostly run 5e adventures and modules, and I save any dabbling in homebrew content for a committed, long-term party. I’m pretty chill overall, and I want my players to have fun, while also focusing on the story of whatever adventure we play. I’m diving into the settings of the Forgotten Realms, Eberron, Strixhaven, and more. Whether you're more story-focused, combat-focused, or a puzzle solver, I’ll do everything I can to accommodate you and give you a good game! If you're interested, hit me up!

Evan G. (Maesteg)

Seeking a gaming group

Hi, I am an avid Dungeons and Dragons player. I am 20M and have played the game since I was 11. I have GM'd and PC'd multiple times, being quite roleplay centric in doing so. For newer players I prefer playing supporting classes such as Cleric to support them. I have interest in other systems such as Daggerheart and Pathfinder 2e, though have not played these systems myself.

Seeking a gaming group

Hello, I’m looking for a group to play 40K with. I have played the game for a couple years on and off and I play a variety of armies (nids, GSC, necrons and emperors children) but for the last year I have been very busy and I have been unable to play a game and would love to get back into it especially with the New Edition coming soon.

Mei (Porthcawl)

Seeking a book club

I enjoy intelligent conversations, meeting new people and finding humour in most things. I’m equally happy discussing psychology and philosophy or conversations that can drift from thoughtful to completely ridiculous. I value kindness, emotional intelligence and people who can be playful without taking themselves too seriously. I’d describe myself as grounded, open-minded and genuinely interested in people and ideas.

The Satsuma Complex
by Bob Mortimer | Learn more and buy
I loved The Satsuma Complex because it’s funny, odd and genuinely warm-hearted. Bob Mortimer creates eccentric characters who still feel completely real, and the book balances mystery and humour brilliantly. It’s quirky without trying too hard, and it has a really comforting charm.

Hi my name is Jake and I’m 18. I’ve been playing DnD 5e for around 3 years now and would describe myself as reasonably experienced as player and DM, with a preference for being a player. Though most of experience is in DnD I’m always open to try new games and systems. I personally enjoy all aspects of DnD but I do have a slight preference for some good old combat.

John (Maesteg)

Seeking a book club

Hi, I'm John and I'm 41. I'm a big reader and I love to write. My favourite genres are fantasy and mystery, but I love to read whatever I can get my hands on. I love to scrutinise movies that are based on books and will specifically buy the books to see what they changed. HP was a big let down lol. I'm looking to join a group that has similar interests and it'd be nice to make some new friends as my non-reading circle is becoming a bit mute. It would also be great if I can find some people to read some of my own writing, bounce some ideas off of, and help me gain the confidence to actually get something published.

John recommends:

His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman
His Dark Materials
by Philip Pullman | Learn more and buy
I saw The Golden Compass first before I realised this was actually a book. Then I walked into Waterstone one day and saw the full series of books in one tome sitting on the shelf. I bought it and was instantly hooked. So much better than the movie and full of controversial themes. Pullman's anti-establishment and multi-dimentional themes work well together. The idea that we see these worlds unfold through the eyes of a child is a brilliant concept. How many of us has grown up thinking that the things adults do seem more complicated and selfish than they need to be? Things were much simpler when we were children. I also loved the idea that the characters were born and lived with their souls/daemons outside their bodies. The concept behind it, although Pullman also depicts the opposite, is that you could never be truly lonely. I would say that this book and concept is unique, I can't think of book that is entirely similar to it, but anyone with an interest in fantasy and science fiction should definitely give this a read.

Jez (Bridgend)

Seeking a gaming group

Hi. I played a lot of TTRPGs during the early 80s and have now retired and am a youngish 58 with two teenagers. I’d be really interested to take up the hobby again as I loved it back in the day. Mid week or evenings suit me. Prefer to be a player than a DM. Open to anything but have played AD&D, Call of Cthulhu and Paranoia from what I remember. Prefer face to face than online. Also used to love painting figures. Have dice will travel.

Sam (Caerphilly)

Seeking a gaming group

Hi, I'm Sam - I've been playing D&D and TTRPGs for a long time. I'm in my mid thirties, and I've been playing, mostly DMing since I was about 10. I just bought the most recent version of D&D (2024/5.5e) and I'm really excited to run it for an in person group, or even D&D 2014/5e. I particularly like the roleplaying and worldbuilding aspects of the game, but it's not D&D without combat and exploration, so there'll be plenty of that, too. I've got a homebrew world to run games in, or I'm happy to pick an existing campaign setting (I've got Eberron, and I love Ravenloft; give me an excuse to buy the book!). What I'd really like is to talk to players first and work to build a world we're all invested in. I'm happy to run for new and experienced players, and the group would be LGBTQ and neurodivergent friendly. We'll use safety tools to create a comfortable space for everyone to play in. I'm looking for between 3 and 6 players. If you're not sure what to put in your first message, why not tell me what drew you into TTRPGs in the first place?

Family board games are my only experience so far. I want to learn D&D and can commit to a weekly meet up. Evening or weekend. I'm almost 40, so I'm looking for an older group of players that don't mind teaching a newbie.
