Seeking a gaming group

Hi. I played a lot of TTRPGs during the early 80s and have now retired and am a youngish 58 with two teenagers. I’d be really interested to take up the hobby again as I loved it back in the day. Mid week or evenings suit me. Prefer to be a player than a DM. Open to anything but have played AD&D, Call of Cthulhu and Paranoia from what I remember. Prefer face to face than online. Also used to love painting figures. Have dice will travel.

I enjoy scifi and horror. Scifi subgenres I quite like are pulp scifi and retro futurism. I don’t have may friends who like reading so I’d like to connect with people with similar interests

Charlotte

Seeking a gaming group

My name is Charlotte, 32 years old (she/her). I have played Dungeons and Dragons since 2020. I have been a DM'd most of the games I have played and was in a game for almost 2 years. I am looking to play in a long running campaign online, I am free weekends as I work full time Mon-Fri. I love all aspects of the game, roleplaying, solving puzzles and combat excite me so I am really open to any playstyles, themes. I am most familiar with 5E, but I am open to learning any of the editions.

I’m pretty new to dnd. I’ve played a couple of one shots online and most of my knowledge is from playing BG3. I’d like to find a local group to play in-person with, ideally on a regular basis.

Just one more chapter

Book club

A fantasy and sci-fi book club for readers who want to read books with ideas, depth and something to say. We typically avoid ā€œchick-flickā€ reads and don’t shy away from the door stoppers! We’d love to meet at least once a month with plenty of tea and snacks to keep us going.

Charles

Seeking a gaming group

Hi I'm Charles (30M) I'm a D&D enthusiast looking to join or start a group in or around the Bridgend area I have been playing D&D for a little over 2 years being a mix of player and as a DM. So far I have played in some one shots and playing through Descent into Avernus currently, and I have DM'd a few one shots and I'm currently a DM for a Curse of Strahd Campaign I like all parts of D&D fairly equally (Combat, Exploration, Roleplay) but I think I generally prefer being a DM rather than a player I really enjoy setting up scenarios and encounters for players and working their backstory into the main plot or finding unique hooks specific to their characters I also enjoy coming up with characters with my partner (who also plays D&D) and helping to flesh out characters and the worlds they inhabit My current group are quite chaotic and honestly I enjoy that experience as a DM of trying to figure out what happens next based on the choices and actions of the players I'm really interested in the Eberron setting and had planned an adventure for some players but unfortunately it fizzled out and would be keen to revisit it at some point in the future

briefly played D&D before, but campaigns all fizzled out, so I am a relative newbie looking for a new campaign to join to actually get into a story

Rebecca

Mad old bat, reads anything and everything but especially sci-fi, fantasy and historical fiction. Not keen on chick-lit as a rule. Currently loving Sarah J Maas and ACOTAR, with Jane Austen on audio for running to.

Discworld by Terry Pratchett

I started reading Pterry in the late 80s and loved them all. Discworld books have literally saved my life. Any situation of life is covered with biting wit, searing social/political commentary, vulgar humour and an unparalleled breadth of literary knowledge

Mainly chick lit and thriller/crime. Also read a lot of what's popular at the moment. Not a lot of friends read as much as I do so would love to have a cuppa and chat about recent reads.

I love books especially fantasy and historical fiction but will give pretty much anything a go! I’m a sucker for a pretty edition of a book to add to my shelves and would love to find people to discuss books with

Seeking a book club

I’d like to get back into reading and love doing a ā€˜post-mortem’ after finishing a book. I mainly read psychological thrillers or what’s popular but open to other genres. I have been a member of book club before but was in France and haven’t met a group of people yet in Bridgend to join a new one.

Lewis

Seeking a book club

I'm a writer and reader from South Wales. I read pretty much whatever takes my fancy in the moment, but my top genres are: fantasy, sci-fi, historical fiction, and horror. Very open to other recommendations. I guess I'm looking for fellow readers who don't take themselves too seriously, who care equally as much about having fun as discussing books.

Lewis recommends:

Replay by Ken Grimwood
Replay
by Ken Grimwood | Learn more and buy
Partly what I love about this book is the story behind finding it. I spotted a niche, little sci-fi, fantasy book shop while on a pub crawl with friends. My brain immediately went into side-quest mode, and, to the annoyance of my non-reading friends, I spent the next hour in the shop floating on air. I returned early the next day while my friends slept off their hangovers and challenged the shop owner to find me a book based on my genre turn-ons. After a few false starts, he handed me Replay by Ken Grimwood. The timeloop gimmick nearly put me off, but I assumed that when this came out in 87, it was probably one of the fresher examples of the trope. I'm so glad I gave this a go. The characters were great. It had sci-fi and historical elements, and was strangely hopeful while being bitterly nostalgic. Definitely worth a go!

Woodland Faun

Seeking a gaming group

Heyo! My friends online call me Faun! I'm 24, amab and use any pronouns! I've run games in the past but I'd love to get some time as a player in a longer term campaign! I have experience with 5e and baldurs gate 3, I got a little addicted to its amazing storytelling and it's got me craving more again after a few years away from ttrpgs, I'm hoping to make some nerdy friends irl to hang out with and grow together as a party! I'm flexible when it comes to the type of game or setting, I absolutely love making characters that fit the world DMs have in mind, I struggle quite badly with a panic disorder and I hope this could be a great step to growing some more resilience! I can't wait to get to know you all!
