Practising Plunderers

Gaming group

Hello! A GM and a player looking for 3 others to play premade modules with us, we both have years of experience. We have a car and are willing to go as far as Swansea or Bridgend. Able to rent a free room from nerd stores for sessions. Prefer those that can attend in person. We are both story and role-playing centric, though don't neglect combat, decently 'rule of cool' GM (don't straight up break the rules and be feasible though). Either physical or dndbeyond (or equivalent) character sheets can be used. We wish to play on a semi-regular basis, one session every 1-2 weeks. First premade module we are playing is The Lost Mines of Phandelver. We then plan on going to do other preset adventures and modules. We later wish to try Curse of Strahd and Tyranny of the Dragons later down the line. New or veteran welcome, just learn your character sheet (please).

Ellis

Seeking a gaming group

Hi, my name is Ellis. I’m 20 years old (he/him), and I’m an amateur DM who’s looking for a new group. I mostly run 5e adventures and modules, and I save any dabbling in homebrew content for a committed, long-term party. I’m pretty chill overall, and I want my players to have fun, while also focusing on the story of whatever adventure we play. I’m diving into the settings of the Forgotten Realms, Eberron, Strixhaven, and more. Whether you're more story-focused, combat-focused, or a puzzle solver, I’ll do everything I can to accommodate you and give you a good game! If you're interested, hit me up!

Evan G.

Seeking a gaming group

Hi, I am an avid Dungeons and Dragons player. I am 20M and have played the game since I was 11. I have GM'd and PC'd multiple times, being quite roleplay centric in doing so. For newer players I prefer playing supporting classes such as Cleric to support them. I have interest in other systems such as Daggerheart and Pathfinder 2e, though have not played these systems myself.

John

Seeking a book club

Hi, I'm John and I'm 41. I'm a big reader and I love to write. My favourite genres are fantasy and mystery, but I love to read whatever I can get my hands on. I love to scrutinise movies that are based on books and will specifically buy the books to see what they changed. HP was a big let down lol. I'm looking to join a group that has similar interests and it'd be nice to make some new friends as my non-reading circle is becoming a bit mute. It would also be great if I can find some people to read some of my own writing, bounce some ideas off of, and help me gain the confidence to actually get something published.

I saw The Golden Compass first before I realised this was actually a book. Then I walked into Waterstone one day and saw the full series of books in one tome sitting on the shelf. I bought it and was instantly hooked. So much better than the movie and full of controversial themes. Pullman's anti-establishment and multi-dimentional themes work well together. The idea that we see these worlds unfold through the eyes of a child is a brilliant concept. How many of us has grown up thinking that the things adults do seem more complicated and selfish than they need to be? Things were much simpler when we were children. I also loved the idea that the characters were born and lived with their souls/daemons outside their bodies. The concept behind it, although Pullman also depicts the opposite, is that you could never be truly lonely. I would say that this book and concept is unique, I can't think of book that is entirely similar to it, but anyone with an interest in fantasy and science fiction should definitely give this a read.

Seeking a book club

Kids laughed when I said I'd write a funny book for children. Well they're not laughing now.

Somehow it's thought of as a fluffy book for children, but I don't recall anyone getting tarred and feathered in any of Enid Blyton's oeuvre.

Seeking a book club

As an English teacher I've read a lot of books, but have got into a bit of a rut reading mostly non-fiction, and would like to be put in a position where I have to read something that I wouldn't normally. I do a bit of writing as well and it could help. I also like poetry and running, but not usually at the same time.
