I like how it is a nonsensical book that invites the reader to engage in the imaginative world of Wonderland through wordplay and unconventional characters. The timeless appeal of the story lies in its ability to transport readers into a fantastical realm where anything is possible.

Dark magical fiction set in the Soviet Union (but with light overtones) - Satan appears as a professor, enters Moscow and wreaks havoc on the sensibilities of the public. There are allegorical references opposing Soviet ideology. The book has scenes which flash back to Pontius Pilate’s involvement with the death of Christ which links the soviet mayhem into the collective conscience of good and evil, and these sections really add to the drama!

⚠️ it's a very dark read but the best I have read in a long time. A love story with extreme form of abuse, slavery and graphic murders.

It's a heart breaking-ly honest take on infatuation and young love, done in a retelling of the Trojan War. Patroclus's perspective brings all of the emotions, and each page will make you want to carry on reading, until you've finished the book in one sitting...
