CHERYL (Chorley)

Seeking a book club

I love reading and would like to read books which might not be from my normal genres which are mostly authors like Harlen Coben, PJ Tracey and similar - with a bit of Jodi Piccoult or JJ Moyes at times!

Fascinating insight not only into one person's battle with the bottle but also his road to being sober. Funny (laugh out loud funny in places) but also poignant. Makes you think.

Chris (Chorley)

Seeking a book club

I live in the Chorley area and I've been doing a lot of reading this past few months. I tend to read them on my phone, which isn't great if Im reading to relax before bed (blue light etc). I need to make more of an effort to read actual hard copies and quite like the idea of meeting with a group of women. I work shifts so cant always commit to attending. I like to read a variety of books, my current go to tends to psychological thrillers, especially those written by Harlen Coben or Alice Feeney.

Lili (Clitheroe)

Seeking a gaming group

Hi! I really enjoy DnD and would love to find a group to play this with as we are new to the area (my partner and I). Also a big fan of magic the gathering and have far more experience with that than Dnd but would have a great time learning more about editions and play styles as well as playing anything alike.

Col (Burnley)

Seeking a gaming group

Really like d&d, have played a little and am most familiar with 5e. Not overly experienced and have never done dming before but would love to join a group or even just chat to people who are also into d&d and other nerdy things!! Would be good to possibly get a game going if there’s enough interest. Oh and im a bloke 46yo but would play d&d with anyone really.

Alysha (Burnley)

Seeking a gaming group

I am a neurospicy near 30 year old. I love playing video and board games of all types and am looking into getting back into DnD as I haven't played since university. I'd be looking for beginner friendly games and groups who would be willing to teach me how to play again.

Christie J. Newport (Preston)

Seeking a book club

Hi, I am a Preston, Lancashire born and bred award-winning crime thriller author of the Preston Murders series. I am also the co-founder and co-director of Preston Crime Fiction Festival, which is taking place from 25-27 September with 40+ major authors. Headliners are Dorothy Koomson and Alex North but got a lot of incredible, very high calibre authors. I have always loved reading and writing stories but I also have some very rare and debilitating autoimmune (inflammatory) diseases. I love to read as much as I can but I struggle to manage as much as I would like at the moment as my health took another turn (awaiting surgery) and the festival is taking all my "well enough" time. I love crime fiction but I do break them up every so often with a foray into other genres. I have a wide circle of friends within the crime writing community, which is why I have such a great lineup for this festival. I have been on stage at major crime writing festivals around the UK, including Theakston's Old Peculiar (they sold a record 18k tickets), I was on stage with M. W. Craven, Nadine Matheson, Simon Mason and Mark Billingham interviewed us. We were on in the main event tent and it was exceptionally busy! That was a moment and half! I am represented by a top agent in London and have two book deals at present. The advent of AI and celebrity "authors" terrifies me, because it is extremely tough to get a deal and they threaten all creatives... Having said that sometimes I wish I could be a recluse and read and write without all the public stuff, especially when I am flaring badly. These days there are a lot of selfie requests and if you don't like having your pic taken, it's tough luck... lol (I don't btw, in case that wasn't obvious. Some of my favourite go-to authors are Dorothy Koomson, Diant Chamberlain, Lisa Jewell, Adele Parks, Chris Carter, Lesley Kara and so many more... it is impossible to list them all :-) If you want to come to the festival or know others who might - the web address is www.prestoncrimefictionfestival.co.uk

Jack (Wigan)

Seeking a gaming group

Fairly new to D&D, got into it watching things that appeared on YouTube shorts/TikTok and all of a sudden sparked a huge interest. Little experience although I have played a few different characters now and I'm learning as I go! Looking for either in person or virtual games in an evening due to other commitments during the day.

Kron (Blackburn)

Seeking a gaming group

33 M - Not exactly new to the area but boy have I been lazy in rebuilding my friend group. I am a long time gamer and play MtG, board games, and D&D (well I'll try any TTRPG really). I moved to the area kind of around the end of 2024 and have been building my career up since then, but now I'm hoping to get some game nights in each week. I enjoy playing Commander and prefer bracket 2/3. I have also played quite a lot of D&D and have a lot of experience being a DM though I do prefer to get to know people before starting a group that I'm in charge of. Finally for board games I love a good big-box-campaign game e.g. Oathsworn, Midara, Kingdom Death and also things that are more mid sized. Finally as I know as adults it can be hard to get groups together for big gaming nights, feel free to send me a ping if you want to add me on discord or steam. I play a lot of games like Warframe, Space Marine 2, Remnant 2, Subnautica, etc... and am always happy to meet new people.

John (Rossendale)

Seeking a book club

I'm an easy going and relaxed - soon to be fifty - Scottish gentleman who sees having a book to read and then discussing it with others as a perfect opportunity to rekindle my previous love of reading in general. I'm hoping to socialise and meet new friends through reading in a book club or small group. I particularly enjoy, but am not limited to, historical books, non-fiction, biographies and autobiographies. I'm open to try reading more fiction.
