Jim (Waltham Cross)

Seeking a gaming group

Played lots of original D&D and AD&D 2nd edition in the 1990's when I was a teenager. I was usually the dungeon master because I had a powerful imagination/was good at spontaneous storytelling, but I would prefer to be a player now. I have a lot of original print AD&D 2nd edition stuff, many dozens of books and boxed sets. I also like the Talisman board game; I used to play it when it was 2nd edition, but after some research I have been recently buying up 4th edition revised stuff and look forward to using it. I have my own home in Cheshunt, but am married with three young children, so it would be hard for me to host. I have a car and can easily get to a venue within reasonable distance. (Cheshunt, Waltham Cross, Goffs Oak, Cuffley, Hoddesdon, Hertford, Ware; maybe a few other places.)

tf-ted (Hemel Hempstead)

Seeking a book club

(29M) Over the last year have really got into reading and have no friends to chat to them about! I'm pretty open to all genres but have had a hard time in the past with fantasy. I mostly read classics, romance, and contemporary fiction. But can always be persuaded.

While some of the characters stories can feel incomplete, or forgotten, the story of Cleo & Frank's relationship is one that has sat with me for quite some time. There are many beautiful moments I think about often, and a fun mixture of people squashed into this story!
The Secret History by Donna Tartt

In the midst of reading this, I kind of hated it but also in awe of it. But looking back, there is so much of this story that sits on my mind and I NEED to talk to someone about this novel!

I enjoy a more roleplay centric playstyle, as combat can be confusing. I'm willing to learn new games (been looking into Pathfinder 2e) but am mostly just interested in a laidback/casual game I've played a lot of D&D 5e, and a little of Vampire: The Masquerade

Kip (Radlett)

Seeking a book club

Love novels but am often disappointed, but think I may sometimes not appreciate their deeper meaning. Keen to discuss and learn from others to pick up things I might have missed.

Kip recommends:

The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje

It describes in lyrical detail both the awfulness, but also the brilliance and liberation, of the sense of alienation

Ken (Hemel Hempstead)

Seeking a book club

62 years old, had been attending a central London book group near my place of work for 10 years until a change to a job in Hemel made it impractical (though I do still follow their choices). Though the group's choices have touched on the crime & sci-fi genres, they have largely centered on modern general fiction with the occasional 19th / 20th century classic. I live in the Grovehill area of Hemel, and as I have to rely on public transport, any meetings would ideally be in the Hemel Town Centre area, or nearby.

Kiss Club (Keep It Sassy & Steamy) (Hemel Hempstead)

Book club

Ideally looking for people willing to meet up at least once per month in person, but we can start off online as well. We'll choose a book per month then meet and discuss. We would mix it up a bit to cover multiple subgenres. Looking to engage with book lovers who would also be committed to fun book ideas such as blind date with a book etc. I am located in Boxmoor.

It's rare that I find that MM genre romance set in an ancient world time-frame. I enjoyed the slow burn, the character development, the time period and how appropriate the language and plot are to the time period.

Sasha (Hemel Hempstead)

Seeking a book club

I am an avid reader or romance books across subgenres. I mostly read romance books especially LGBT romance and have published over 20 titles. Looking to meet like-minded people who enjoy talking about books. Usually I host a book club once a month on Discord but most of the members were in the US so since moving here the time difference made it impossible to continue. I'd like to re-start a book club where we can explore romance books across all subgenres, dark romance, fantasy, YA, LGBTQ+, space opera, sci-fi etc.

Hi I’m Sassi 33F. I’d love to join an in person book group to discuss books and make new friends. I enjoy all kinds of books but lately I’ve been reading thrillers and fantasy. I also read quite a lot of non-fiction including motivational stuff and books about food/ the food system.

Spencer (Sawbridgeworth)

Seeking a gaming group

Newish GM that has run a ROOT RPG ( Medieval setting where players play as Anthropomorphic woodland animals) & Urban Shadows ( Modern world setting where players choose from mythical beings like vampires, werewolves, ghosts etc as a character) campaigns recently. Wondering if anyone would be interested in joining a new group to play either? Both games are Power by the Apocalypse systems, which is quite different from D&D. PbtA and is characterized by using 2d6 dice "moves" and "playbooks" to focus on action rather than rigid rules. If you’re interested please drop me a message. :)
