Catherine68x (Bromley)

Seeking a book club

I used to love a good murder mystery or psychological thriller, but feel I've read so many I am very rarely excited or surprised by the plot. Looking to try new genres, but with recommendations. Nice to chit chat books over wine. Plus it would be nice to have somewhere to go mid week.

Neil (Folkestone)

Seeking a book club

I'm new to Folkestone and love books. I especially like 19th century and early 20th Century literature. But I also like non-fiction, anti-imperialism, left-wing politics, environment, popular science (evolution). I'm hoping a book club will help me get to meet like-minded people here.

new player looking to get into DND properly as I’ve always wanted to but had no one local to do it with. I’ve watched and ton of DnD shows and podcasts so I’m familiar with the tools and concepts but never actually put that into real experience! A little more about me, I’m 27, he/him, LGBTQ+ friendly and eager to learn!

my jeejah has a speelycaptor (Gravesend)

Seeking a book club

44M. I'm here to get recommendations for new books, and perhaps to meet like-minded people in/near Gravesend. I suspect this type of person is not to be found in a pub of an evening. I like non-fiction, and when I go for fiction, it's mostly sci-fi. For some reason, I also love the Russian classics of Tolstoy and Dostoevsky. If you know what jeejahs and speelycaptors are, then you know what I like.

my jeejah has a speelycaptor recommends:

Martian by Andy Weir

Seveneves by Neal Stephenson

Once you accept the premise (something happened to the moon), it all follows wonderfully.
War And Peace by Leo Tolstoy
War And Peace
by Leo Tolstoy | Learn more and buy
It's an absolute masterpiece, and with good reason. It'll show you what's great about Russian culture and history. (It's such a shame that Putin has forced Russia into its current situation. I have helped by hosting Ukrainians in my house for the last 2 years.)
