I like a mix of books mainly contemporary, psychological and thrillers. When not reading, I enjoy the gym, socialising and explore new spots for coffee, drinks, walks or just hanging out.

I work all the time and need to do something else with my spare time. Even though I’ve lived in Wokingham for 10 years I barely know anyone besides my colleagues. For me a book club would be more about meeting other people. I’m 50 years old.

I'm actually looking to make contact with local book clubs with a different idea in mind. I'm a local published author who is looking to make contact with any book clubs who'd be interested in having an author come along on a completely informal basis to give a talk or maybe a Q&A regarding the writing process, creation of characters etc. I'm not looking to promote my book, that is already being taken care of, I just really enjoy attending events to encourage and discuss how it is possible for anyone to write if they put their mind to it. Also, not looking for fees or publicity. Thank you

I have read many books written by Ken Follet, but this was my first and I think it will also remain my favourite. I read Lie Down With Lions during a car journey and it was definitely an 'I can't put it down' experience. The tension in the final chapters as the Russian Army track the Afghanistan people across the mountains had me pushing on to find out how it ends. Also, the book was very informative with regard to the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, something that certainly resonates today.

I am 46 year old and have lived in Wokingham for 2 years, I still do not know anyone and would like to meet other people and connect with. I completed a Counselling Psychology Degree in 2023 so I am interested in Psychology, but my lack of enthusiasm for reading holds me back. I used to love reading books but struggle to stick to one now. I found out that I have ADHD so my short term memory is not great and I find forgetting information that I have learnt is easy to do. So I would like to get back into reading and train my brain as well as meeting new people and hoping to make new friends. I am currently lacking in confidence and I am quite shy at first but grow more confident the more I socialise. Thank you

Regular meetings are held at Spencers Wood Library, hosted by Heather Dyson and her library services. Attendance is for new and existing members to discuss books, from best-sellers to award-winners, classics, and non-fiction. Lower Earley Library Book Group

Book club

This group meets at Lower Earley Library to discuss a variety of books, including bestsellers, prize winners, classics, and non-fiction. Individuals who are interested in joining are welcome to join. Chalfont Close, Chalfont Way, Lower Earley, Wokingham, RG6 5HZ is the location of the meetings. Heather Dyson is the leader and they are currently welcoming new members.
