Heather

Seeking a book club

Now retired, I have more time for reading yet still find it difficult to read just for pleasure. Having the opportunity to share and discuss books would be welcome and I would like to be challenged to try different genres.

Heather recommends:

The Home Child by Liz Berry
The Home Child

It evoked memories of my years in Canada. The story, based on historical events, is beautifully told in poetry. I loved the language, the imagery and the fact my imagination was put to work! Its structure meant it was easy to take up and put down, but I found myself retracing several sections each time, before being ready to move on!

Ali

Seeking a book club

I mainly read thrillers but like stories I can relate to as well. I do like to try new things and broaden my horizons and therefore would love to meet people to discuss great books they have read and share ideas. I live in Bebington, Wirral.

Ali recommends:

Ladykiller by Martina Cole

The characters are really good, you can really immerse yourself in the story and feel the emotion, anger and stress. This is nothing like Martina Cole's other books which tend to focus on the criminal underworld.
