Seeking a book club

I am a 74 year old with seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and have been an avid reader since forever but only joined a book club when we moved to Cumbria twenty five years ago. Since then I have been a member of three clubs, all of which have folded due to dwindling numbers and/or Covid. I read a wide variety of genres, my favourite being contemporary fiction and my least favourites fantasy and sci-fi. My favourite books are Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, The Go-Between and Jane Eyre. I am currently reading Wuthering Heights.

Brews&Books

Seeking a book club

Hey! 30/Female, looking for some local book loving friends! I'm a big fan of fantasy, dark academia, romantasy and soon venturing into more horror and sci-fi. I am not a fan of non-fiction as I like to escape into big open worlds, with magic, creatures and unpredictability. Although I've found others who love these kind of genres online, some local book lover friends would be amazing too. If you have any similar genres you love, please reach out so we can connect. Maybe we can form a bookclub one day if there is enough of us!

Seeking a book club

Looking for new friends—ideally the kind who enjoy sitting across a table, talking through a book properly. Not just ā€œwhat did you think?ā€ but getting into the ideas, teasing out meaning, and maybe disagreeing a bit along the way. I’m a husband and a dad. Until recently I’d have said I was a die-hard introvert, but in a twist on the usual trend, the older I get, the more curious I’ve become about other people. I read with a pen in hand and tend to lean toward heavier nonfiction—philosophy, psychoanalysis, that kind of thing. But when fiction lands, it really lands. I’ve spent the last year focusing on books by women. Anne BrontĆ« might be my favourite of the sisters—I think we share a dry sense of humour. My favourite detective is Inspector Morse. The most interesting novel you probably haven’t heard of? The Vorrh by Brian Catling. Strange, beautiful, and worth the time. Based in Whitehaven. If that sounds like your kind of conversation, get in touch.

Fascinating insight not only into one person's battle with the bottle but also his road to being sober. Funny (laugh out loud funny in places) but also poignant. Makes you think.

A great journey through the character's life, or rather, possible lives, as she contemplates all the what ifs. Touches on mental health but leaves you with hope.

Seeking a book club

Hi there! I'm just about to turn 28 years old (I'm a true virgo). I love reading and would love to find a local book club. I'm quite open to genre's, I'll typically read anything that's good! But I do tend to gravitate to fantasy and contemporary fiction, as well as regularly enjoying memoirs and classical literature. I currently live in Egremont but would be willing to travel.
