Lyra

Seeking a book club

I'm Lyra, I don't have much of a local friend circle so I'm looking to meet more people. I am a massive fantasy reader but willing to extend my horizons- Terry Pratchett & Brandon Sanderson are my go to.

Lyra recommends:

Going Postal by Terry Pratchett
Going Postal

One of Pratchett's later works and one of his most funny. This one has made me laugh out loud in public transit. Truely an amazing story with a lot of heart.

Jude

Seeking a book club

Hi, I'm Jude. I'm an ASN teacher who loves reading pretty much anything, from fiction to non-fiction. I especially enjoy books by women writers, dystopian novels, contemporary literary fiction, and the odd postmodern book that leaves me wondering what on earth I've just read! I'd love to meet some fellow book lovers, discover books I'd never have picked up on my own, and have some good chats along the way.

Book clubs are my favourite activity. Been a member in various locations across UK and USA for over 25 years. Prefer non- fiction but am happy to be challenged. Looking for an in-person group anywhere in Fife. Evenings preferred.

Edy

Seeking a book club

Hi book people of Fife, I've written two books which I hope to have printed real soon at Glenrothes KDC printers. 1st book is about travelling through New Zealand and Australian desert over the space of the year 2000. 2nd book is about travelling to Bangkok and Cambodia in 2001, shortly after Pol Pot died and unknowingly arriving in a war zone. Really would appreciate a book critic - Anyone interested ?

Keir

Seeking a book club

I work from home mostly and I'm looking to be a bit more involved in the community, plus I'm getting back into reading and trying to go through a lot of the classics. I also appreciate history, philosophy, mythology and an occasional fantasy adventure.

Keir recommends:

Siddartha
by Herman Hesse | Learn more and buy
I love the emphasis on experiential wisdom in Siddartha, and not just going through the process of understanding propositions as a means of gaining "enlightenment". It's also a very concise book and an easy read, I'd recommend it to everyone.

Samuella

Seeking a book club

I love reading books and I love being dedicated to activities in times that I have to myself. I'm a highschooler with nothing much to do outside school grounds. I love being part of a community and I feel like books and literal arts are more of the kinds of activities I'm into

Samuella recommends:

In cold blood by Truman Capote
In cold blood
by Truman Capote | Learn more and buy
In Cold Blood is not only gripping and thought-provoking but also widely regarded as a pioneering work in the true crime genre. It’s a book that delves deeply into the psychology of its characters and the moral ambiguities surrounding the case, making it a compelling choice for both true crime enthusiasts and literary readers alike

Pam

Seeking a book club

I have always read a lot. At the moment I am feeling quite isolated and it is difficult to find like-minded people. A book club sounds good. I tend to stick to what I like mostly and would find recommendations good. I prefer UK authors. I like crime best. I also like any fiction or non-fiction about peoples' lives during the 2 WWs and the resistance. Read a variety of other types also.

Pam recommends:

Outlander - all of the series of books
by Diana Gabaldon | Learn more and buy
Better than the TV version. Time travel and romance. Well written excapism.
