Very few of my friends seem to read in the way I did as a child. Any text excites me but politics/history/science fiction are good go tos.

Hannah (Birmingham)

Seeking a book club

Hi, My name is Hannah Majid and I'm a journalist at ITV News Central. We're working on a story about how the UK Society of Authors is campaigning to get books stamped with a 'Human Authored' logo to ensure readers know the difference between books produced by AI, versus books written by real people. Hundreds of authors are also backing the campaign. We'd like to film at your next book club meeting (preferably this week or early next week) and ask people: Do you think books written by humans should be labelled on the cover as AI books begin to enter the market? Why do you think it's important for people to know if a book has been written by a human? If this is something you can help us with, please let me know as soon as possible! Thanks, Hannah

It balances humor with deeper themes like personal growth, family struggles, and emotional vulnerability. Fast-paced and engaging, itโ€™s an easy read with memorable side characters.

The Missing Family by Tim Weaver
The Missing Family
by Tim Weaver | Learn more and buy
The book starts with an inexplicable mystery of a family disappearing from a boat in the middle of a lake. The central character in all Weavers books, David Raker, specialises in missing person cases and the author is an expert at building suspense and clever plot twists.

Romance reader 03 (Birmingham)

Seeking a book club

Hi! Iโ€™m someone who reads in intense phases, when Iโ€™m in, Iโ€™m all in. I mostly read spicy romance because I love the emotional intensity, the tension, and the comfort of getting completely lost in a story. Reading is my favorite form of escape, and itโ€™s the one hobby I always come back to. Iโ€™m looking to join a book group to connect with other readers, talk about the books that obsess us, and hopefully stay a little more consistent with my reading. Iโ€™d love to share recommendations and gush over fictional characters together!

Romance reader 03 recommends:

Heartless by Elsie Silver
Heartless
by Elsie Silver | Learn more and buy
It is great because it perfectly delivers the grumpy single-dad x sunshine nanny dynamic with intense chemistry, emotional depth, and small-town ranch charm. Cadeโ€™s tough, guarded exterior slowly melting for Willa is incredibly satisfying, and the bond between Willa and his son adds warmth and heart that balances the steam. Itโ€™s the kind of spicy romance that feels both escapist and emotionally comforting, addictive, swoony, and easy to binge

Pawlean (Solihull)

Seeking a book club

As an avid Magic Realism and Fantasy reader who doesn't like Romantasy nor smut (unpopular opinion, I know!), I would love to find like-minded readers to explore those genres with - and go beyond the redundant social media book trends that cast an unfortunate shadow to so many hidden gems. :)

Pawlean recommends:

My Lady Jane
by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows | Learn more and buy
What's not to love in a semi-historial fiction that gives a prominent female figure a second (and longer) life, and surrounds her with magic? This book is the exception to my No Romantasy preference.
Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan
Percy Jackson
by Rick Riordan | Learn more and buy
Rick Riordan is my hero, and Percy Jackson changed my life.
