Amanda (Bootle)

Seeking a book club

I'm looking to meet like minded people who enjoy reading/nice people! I've enjoyed reading The Pianist, Thursday Murder Club, Weyward and The Lighthouse Witches in the past year after a fairly long break from reading. I'd like to get back into reading more again. I've never really read fantasy but I think I'd love it. My fav film is Avatar. I like themes exploring consciousness and mystery in life and in books. I've read quite a lot of books that were made into films and I enjoy watching films with a live orchestra too. I love stories with an underdog of any genre and seem to like books with a war or sports theme of this ilk. I've recently started reading feminist literature too. I'm 48 :)

Amanda recommends:

Empire of the Sun by JG Ballard

It was so immersive and I love stories with roots in real life. The characters were so rich and it was really moving. You felt for the young man and how he had to grow so quickly when his world is turned upside down

Emily (Birkenhead)

Seeking a book club

Hi! I'm in my early 20s and enjoy reading pretty much any genre, although I'm less keen on romance and fantasy. Love a book that will make me cry and I'm looking to expand my knowledge of classics. Recently I've been reading quite a bit of older/vintage sci fi.

Emily recommends:

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

This book does such an incredible job of setting up a sense of sheer hopelessness alongside childish joy and naive hope. The narration style is so unique and memorable and I absolutely rooted for the characters. I sobbed for the whole of the last 20 pages, it's a classic for a reason!!

My fist book into romance fantasy. I love Greek mythology and was secretly obsessed with Hercules the Disney movie growing up. So this quickly became a guilty pleasure and my key to fantasy romance books as an adult.

Hi, I’m Zoe! I’m a big fantasy romance fan – I absolutely love ACOTAR and anything with a slow-burn romance and a bit of drama. CuriousMind% (Liverpool)

Seeking a book club

I'm an adventurous reader who loves jumping between genres - mysteries, fantasies, romances, you name it. I'm always up for meeting new people, discovering great recommendations, and chatting about whatever plot twist just ruined my sleep schedule. I'm pretty flexible with meetup times and excited to make new friends who love books as much as I do

CuriousMind% recommends:

Emily (Birkenhead)

Seeking a book club

Hey! I'm at the start of my journey of rediscovering reading in my late 20s and have also recently moved onto the Wirral, so I would love to find like-minded people to connect with. I'm open-minded with book genres but generally gravitate to thrillers, mystery, fantasy and adventure with some romance thrown in. I like a book to challenge/inspire my thinking, and at this point I'm particularly open to those that support personal growth too.

Emily recommends:
