Seeking a book club

I'm pretty open minded with books and will read most things. I tend to lean towards contemporary fiction, dystopian and classics. I try and read one non-fiction every month too. It would be great to make new friends who share a love of books, to meet up and chat with. Please send me your email and we can look to get a group together to meet each month. Happy to meet in South Lanarkshire/Glasgow.

Scott recommends:

The Bonfire of the Vanities by Tom Wolfe

Set in 1980s New York it touches on ambition, racism, social class, politics, and greed. A lot of the themes still feel very relevant today - sadly! It's a chunky book but once you start reading you're hooked.

Jo

Seeking a book club

I've always been a reader and I am looking to meet similarly book-minded people to talk about writing, books, and more while making some new friends. I read almost all kinds of books and enjoy stepping out of my comfort areas to explore the recommendations of others. I don't have a book club but would like to be part of one. Happy to travel locally and meet up once a month or so.

Jo recommends:

Rizzio by Denise Mina

It a novella that transports you right into the middle of a viscious event in Scottish history, making it and its main player feel impossibly alive, while also reflecting on the echoes of the happening's impact on modern society.

I recently had a big birthday and decided it’s time to do more for me and persue some of the things I enjoy . I thought a book club would be fun to try and meet a new social group in person or online , whatever fits best with my crazy life . I look to hopefully meeting some of you . Karen
