Seeking a gaming group

Hello! I'm in my 30s and enjoy playing a variety of board games but really love a beautiful board game like Wingspan or Dixit! Looking to find people who'd be interested in a regular (ish!) evening meetup! I haven't played D&D but would like to play some TTRPG that are more foresty adventures! I live in Stirlingshire but willing to travel.

Kristi

Gaming group

38yo female, originally from Ohio. I enjoy video games and have limited experience with tabletop gaming but I really liked it. My husband and I are interested in finding/joining a game of D&D, ideally with folk that won't mind us being a bit rusty and likely not knowing entirely what we're doing. We're just wanting something we can do together and have a laugh.

SXPembs

Seeking a book club

I live in Callander. I stopped work in 2021 due to long covid. I read a mixture of fiction and non-fiction, and always welcome book suggestions.

SXPembs recommends:

A Woman in the Polar Night
by Christiane Ritter | Learn more and buy
This tells the story of her year living in a tiny hut in the Norwegian arctic: melting snow for water, eating seal meat, and watching the changes in the awe-inspiring landscape.
Grey Bees
by Andrey Kurkov | Learn more and buy
A novel set in Ukraine that looks at how the war has impacted people in rural communities. The central character is a beekeeper living in the "grey zone" between Russian and Ukrainian lines. He sets out to find a safer place for his bees where there is pollen instead of explosives.
Tell Them of Battles, Kings and Elephants
by Matthias Enard | Learn more and buy
This is a short, beautifully-written historical novel set in early sixteenth century Istanbul (Constantinpole). The Sultan has invited Michelangelo to design a bridge across the Bosphorus, and this tells the tale of his efforts.
Fire Weather: A True Story from a Hotter World by John Vaillant
Fire Weather: A True Story from a Hotter World
by John Vaillant | Learn more and buy
This tells the gripping story of a devastating fire that destroyed a town in Northern Alberta (Western Canada). It explains how climate change is contributing to drier forests that have more potential to burn, and of the fire risks created by our urban environment e.g. flammable plastics in the home. A cautionary tale, and useful background to understanding other major fires e.g. in Jan 2025 in Los Angeles.

Ian

Seeking a gaming group

A PC gamer who should have played Tabletop his whole life but somehow missed the wagon. Looking for a group to play with as a complete noob. I have played all the baldurs gate games on the PC and the Pathfinder games and wanted to convert some of my love of fantasy into tabletop. It's nice to share an adventure with other people's.

Gem85

Seeking a book club

I am in Clackmannanshire and looking for an evening type of book club nearby that takes place in an evening. My local library run some however it is during the day which clashes with work and kids. I like most genres, not massively into non-fiction or biographies unless someone really like. I live comedy, psychological thrillers, court room drama books, historical fiction. Will give most things a try and love discovering new authors.

David

Seeking a gaming group

Hi, I'm 45 and from the Stirlingshire area. I’ve played TTRPGs for about 8 years both as a player and DM (mostly DM now). Mainly focussing on D&D at the moment but have experience with several RPG systems so pretty open on that front. I work entirely from home and my regular D&D games have also all been online so it would be good to find a group for in person games in the area although also open to online if needed. I’m happy running games as well as playing so I'm happy to decide on the details after we get a few people together. Generally most evenings are free and Saturday day time.
