Penny Wheat

Seeking a book club

I am a public speaker and writer of non fiction. My latest book is Dead End and is described as 'Befriending the friendless. One woman's heart-warning encounters with murderers and sex offenders.' It is full of humour and anecdotes, despite the subject matter, and I would love to attend Sandon book club and share it with the membership.

Independent People

It is my current read, a real meaty story about one man's quest for independence in a tough and bleak rural world. Based in Iceland.

Aaron

Seeking a book club

I've been working from home for over a year and often find myself wondering out to find a quiet spot to read. I'm 30 years old and moved here from Scotland, looking to meet new people and potentially join a club or just get some new recommendations ๐Ÿ˜Š I read a lot of fantasy/ dark fantasy/ romance books. Recently read ACOTAR, Fourth wing and Feathers so Cruel.

My favourite book series growing up, every time I pick up one of these I can't put it down till I've finished it. You follow the journey of a farm boy who bonds with a dragon and is pulled head first into a world full of magic, rebellion and war.
Direbound by Sable Sorensen

A more adult version of the inheritance cycle, dark and full of twists. Students who've bonded with dragons compete in a series of life-threatening tasks at a school for riders, training to fight in a war.
The Lies of Lena by Kylie Snow

This series left me emotionally damaged.. yet I still can't wait to do it all over again when the third book comes out. Great FMC, character development and world building, spicy at times and enough twists and turns to keep you guessing.

I first read this series in my early teens and awaited each new release with bated breath! They are incredible, I have never read anything like them. Fantasy, dragons, magic, friendships, family, battles etc, this story has it all
The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
The Knife of Never Letting Go

This book is unlike anything else I have read. I found it to be totally unique, and utterly gripping. It made me laugh, it made me cry; the story itself is so immersive. I would say it wasn't any easy read in that it is quite complex, but well worth it

Sydney

Seeking a book club

Iโ€™m Sydney, Iโ€™m 26 and would love to find some people I can share my book hyperfixations with. I am currently working my back through my book collection that I started collecting when I was a kid. So Iโ€™m reading a lot of teen fiction, but I enjoy most types of fiction. Iโ€™m trying to get back into reading, so having people to share it with would definitely help.

Sydney recommends:

It is an amazing series, with so many great characters and a great story. Iโ€™ve loved it since I was a teenager and itโ€™s still one of my favourites. If you like fantasy and dragons, itโ€™s the best book to read.
