Seeking a book club

My name is Fran, I am looking to make friends and read more. I already read quite a lot, Iโ€™m currently reading Kazuo Ishiguro โ€˜An Artist of the Floating Worldโ€™ and before that read his very first novel and Iโ€™m really enjoying him. I really like literature and Iโ€™m looking to connect with others who do too. I also live in Penryn!

We meet in the library and choose a book from Cornwall library's book club sets. This means that we often read books and authors which are new to us.

Seeking a book club

Hello! I work as a bookseller at Insight in Penryn, a 'What it means to be human' bookshop. I am looking to connect with our book lovers, to discuss books and gather ideas for future book clubs. Our bookshop is located on 13 Broad St, Penryn and we are open Mon-Sat. We sell books on Personal Development/Growth, Spirituality, Self-care, Mind-Body and Nature, Systems and Science. Along with some incredible children's and teen books. The shop is ever-evolving and we encourage conversation about what it means to be alive! Come in for a browse and chat. I'd love to hear about life-changing reads! You can find our website at insightshop.co.uk

A life-changing read about embracing the present moment. Helps deepen my relationship with my own spirituality and find a greater sense of peace within the everyday. I felt in a shift in the way I processed the world around me and my relationships.

Seeking a book club

My main motivation is the social aspect, I LOVE talking about books, art, film etc. so I'd like to join a book club to meet new people and to have a bloody good chat about what we've read over a glass of wine. For escapism, I like the kind of stuff they talk about on Sara Cox's Between The Covers. For mind-expansion, I also like non-fiction books on pre-history, history, science, women's health, feminism, psychology, art history & poetry. I'm open to having a go at starting a book club with others too. Penryn is ideal, could do Falmouth.

Circe by Madeline Miller
Circe

Feminist retelling of the mythical character Circe, usually portrayed as a terrifying witch but cleverly and enjoyably re-written by Miller to be an exiled woman finding the strength to face the challenges of her life and world.

Love reading and getting lost within the story. Will read nearly everything! Would like to meet up over a adult grape juice, away from the daily chores and discuss the next best read.

3rd Monday

Book club

Gatherings are hosted by Henry Purbrick, a representative of Cornwall County Council - Libraries, who sets up meetings on the 3rd Monday of the month at the Penryn Library. All are welcome to come, enjoy tea and biscuits, and discuss the book of the month that was chosen from the local library selection, covering a variety of interesting topics. It's a great way to experience different works and thoughts that you may have otherwise overlooked. From time to time, the group will attend other literary activities, and twice a year, a social gathering. New members are more than welcome to join in the fun. Meetings are located at St Thomas' Street, Penryn, Cornwall.
