Orwellian1984

Seeking a book club

I’m a 41 year old nurse lecturer mother of three. I have always wanted to join a book club and finally have the time. I love to read classic literature, dystopian or ancient history. Occasionally a bit of pseudo- history. I also enjoy reading about the history of psychiatry and mental health. Bit nuanced but I would love to connect with other like minded people.

I’ve read this book many times. It was written by Orwell at the end of his life and he never got to see the impact. This book resonates across generations with themes of truth, government mass control, loss of freedom and uncertainty about the future. A book relevant today and way ahead of its time.

Favourite genres are Psychological thrillers, horror and crime/mystery but I will read just about anything as long as there is a good story. Looking to join a book club to find people with similar hobbies and for book recommendations

A wealth of information about birds in general and especially songbirds seen and heard in our local areas, as well as the solace that the author found in birdlife when his mother died at the age of 66.
