Neil

Seeking a book club

I'm new to Folkestone and love books. I especially like 19th century and early 20th Century literature. But I also like non-fiction, anti-imperialism, left-wing politics, environment, popular science (evolution). I'm hoping a book club will help me get to meet like-minded people here.

Debutante

Seeking a book club

Hi I’m late 60’s and like to think of myself as young minded. I have a GSH and like a bit of banter and fun. Love reading and discussing books but don’t love it so much when things are taken too seriously. I have a Literature degree so have enjoyed analysing many books. However, I do feel that over analysing can sometimes lessen the enjoyment. I mainly like fiction one of my favourite books being ‘What I Loved’ by Siri Hustvedt. Also loved The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. Fairly new to Sandgate so would like to make new friends in the process.

Debutante recommends:

Interesting descriptions of art and very well written.

Fradley

Seeking a book club

I am in a book group in Hythe but there are not enough members. I like following the political scene and keeping fit and trying to use my feeble brain. Am retired and alone.

Fradley recommends:

The crysalids by John Wyndham

Thought-provoking. Read it as a teenager and its concepts stayed with me.

I'm a lover of fiction books, recently found a love of Sally Rooney and Kate Morton. But, I will read most books. What I'm looking for most is to share what I've read with others and get their perspectives on the book tol
