Picked up a book in the Spring of 2024 and never not had one ever since! The books I seem to own are mostly ‘best sellers’ but I would like to find people who I can talk to about a book and suggest other books to read.

Seeking a book club

I love reading crime fiction but like trying new books and genres too. Looking for a book club which is not on a Wednesday!

Kimmy

Seeking a book club

I moved here from another area and would like to meet and discuss books with like minded people. I hope to read books out of my usual genre.

Pilgrim

An impossible situation around every corner that the ex intelligence officer manages to overcome. Set in Afghanistan and can be brutal.

Lydia

I'd like to find new people who also enjoy reading as much as I do!

TriniP

Fairly new to the area, looking to meet people and motivate my reading time instead of doomscrolling

TriniP recommends:

Hamnet

by Maggie O'Farrell | Learn more and buy

As someone who read a lot of Shakespeare at school, this book is a really interesting perspective on what we know about his life and his family. I really enjoyed the storytelling from a range of perspectives, interweaving fiction with historical truth.

I always have a book on the go! I love reading, particularly funny, insightful and sometimes historical stories to lift the spirits and learn new things. Kids now older and looking to reconnect a bit with the world and find like-minded, book-loving friends.

The Island of Missing Trees

by Elif Shafak | Learn more and buy

My most recent read. Both historically interesting and unusual, given that part of the story is from the perspective of a fig tree! A serious subject but really worth a read. Highly recommended.

Have moved from an area with a well-established book club which I’d attended monthly for more than 12 years - and am still a member of, but it’s now too far go regularly. They read and discuss a very wide variety of books and I’ve enjoyed reading a lot of books with them which I probably wouldn’t have chosen. I’d love to find another one nearer where I now live.
