Maria

Seeking a book club

Hi, my name is Maria and I’m a uni student. Growing up I’ve always loved reading and romance used to be my favourite genre until I started branching out. Recently I’ve been into thrillers and books with an anti-heroine / villain as the main lead. I like philosophical books aswell as books with a deeeper / hidden meaning. But I do still love a good romance :)) Looking for someone to talk to about books and other fun things!! <3

I love reading all kinds of genres although classics are something that I haven’t delved into yet. I want to be with a group of people that can share their thoughts about books and get that same excitement from them that I experience when opening a book.

Seeking a book club

I started reading actively around 8 months ago, when I read Fourth Wing. It was the start of my obsession with books, even though before that I still read a couple of books a year. I love fantasy, romantasy, romance books. I also enjoy reading detectives and psychological thrillers. For non-fiction I love psychiatry and neuroscience books, since they are related to my studies at the moment.

It was one of my 6 stars read this winter. I loved everything starting from the writing. The story altered my brain chemistry.

Uni student, looking to meet new people to talk about books with! I read mostly literature and literary fiction, but I'm interested in diving into new genres (looking forward to reading Samuel Delany soon). Some authors I've enjoyed recently: Iris Murdoch, Dennis Cooper, José Donoso, Christopher Isherwood, Eliza Clark. My all time favourite is Oscar Wilde :)

I love reading, used to run a book club and have moved into Birmingham in the last 18 months. I've recently enjoyed Stone Yard Devotional by Charlotte Wood and Orbital by Samantha Harvey as well as relaxing with lighter reads. Looking to meet up with other readers to discuss more

Seeking a book club

I enjoy a wide variety of literature, at the moment I’m reading books by Cecelia Ahern. I think I’ve read all of her published books up to date! I also like to read non-fiction and am particularly interested in spiritual literature. I have read several thriller novels which I have enjoyed but I’m not really a fan of horror fiction books or fantasy fiction either. Although, I did read a little of the Harry Potter series (but I didn’t finish 🙃) I would love to meet with people who have a variety of literary interests. I feel that’s what makes a varied group. My other interests include jewellery making. Which I make using Gemstone Crystals, another interest of mine and I love animals. I volunteer at a local urban farm, although it’s a bit chilly at the moment!! (Feb) Ultimately, I would like to start my own book club/reading group, so if anyone would like to join me please get in touch @ (Facebook - Becca Reilly)

Seeking a book club

I'm 20 and very recently got back into reading as an alternative to doom scrolling and killing my attention span. Recently read 1984 (loved it) and then The Handmaid's Tale (was sort of disappointed by this one) immediately after. Considering reading Dune or Farenheit 451 next. I enjoy books with political themes and Kafka, dislike romance books (not judging just not my thing).

I never used to read much and have recently made a change to spend my free time doing something that enriches me: reading. I'm keen to join a group to keep up my motivation to keep reading and find recommendations on what to read.
