David_J_Flanigan (Morden)

Seeking a gaming group

Hi! I'm David, 42 years old, he/him, and I've been playing and loving TTRPGs (and RPGs in general) for the past 28years. I've played every iteration of D&D except the OG, and I've run one-shots and campaigns using 3E, 3.5, 4E and 5E; I played Pathfinder (First Edition) during the "4E is not D&D" era, and have been looking into Second Edition during the pandemic. I love PbtA (with Monster of the Week and City of Mist being my favourites), I have dabbled in the Storytelling system (Vampire: the Masquerade & Werewolf: the Apocalypse) and the New World of Darkness (Werewolf: The Forsaken & Mage: The Awakening), and I've tried or tried to run several other systems & rulesets (e.g., Cypher system, Tiny D6, 13th Age, Fantasy A.G.E., A Song of Ice & Fire RPG, and I'm sure a few others that I honestly cannot remember at the moment.). Recently, I picked up Dagferheart, which has become an instant favourite. Iโ€™d love to either join a group as a player or, even better, run a game: as a GM, I love โ€œstraight to businessโ€ combat scenarios as one shots (even at high levels, yes: level 15-20 combat is awesome, if itโ€™s the focus of the session), running published modules (I have several on D&DBeyond that are waiting to be tackled) or, if the group wants to, start character-driven narrative campaigns in any published setting (with Eberron and Exandria being my favourite ones).

Guildford Gamers (Guildford)

Gaming group

We're a laid-back and welcoming crowd that regularly meet up on Tuesdays at 6.30pm at the Guildford Institute. We do, however, have to cover the cost of room hire via a fee, so please check out the "More Information" section below regarding our rates. It's a wonderful place with top-notch facilities, such as proper seating, tables, and lighting (much better than an average pub!). While they serve snacks and drinks, you'll need to arrange dinner beforehand or after on your own. Our go-to type of games is mostly Euro-style; sorry, no CCGs, RPGs, or full-on wargames! We play a mix of classic and current titles like Ticket to Ride, Lords of Waterdeep, Stone Age, Puerto Rico, St Petersburg, Power Grid, and Brass โ€“ just take a gander through the session reports in the forum below for an idea of what we like to play. If there's one particular game you have in mind, feel free to bring it or make a request. We'd like to invite new members and help out those just beginning to explore the wonderful world of boardgaming. Drop us a note about your experience (if any) so we can get you properly introduced to our pastimes. We're punctual but if you arrive late (after 7 pm), please let us know so we can plan the games according to everyone's time and make sure we can fit in the longer titles. We usually manage up to two titles each. For more information, check our Meetup page or the local forum. You can also contact one of our key organizers through GeekMail: Gary Duke (Gary Duke) from Fleet, Hampshire or surendra singh (sevy) from La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime and Nina A (NinaAlphey) from Guildford, England. We look forward to seeing you around!
