Ken (Alnwick)

Seeking a gaming group

Hello. I am interested in history and playing all types of games, especially those which produce a narrative e.g. Oath, ARCS, AH:LCG, Pandemic etc. I also enjoy RPG’s both historical and fantasy, as well as minature historical wargames, euro and board wargames. My favourite type of boardgame would be a heavy euro with a political theme e.g. Hegemony, Congress of Vienna and the COIN series from GMT. Recently began to get into 18xx.

New to the area I’d like to join an afternoon book club in Amble, Warkworth, Alnmouth or Anwick. I’m open minded on genre. Has anyone heard of one?

At the moment, I enjoy reading thriller/mystery and fantasy books but I would love to explore other genres. I’ve always loved the thought of joining a book club and would love to find people to chat about them with. 😊

Alison (Alnwick)

Seeking a book club

I'm in my 60's, I used to be in a monthly book club before moving here and I'd like to join one again. Rather than big books on very serious themes, I like contemporary fiction (but am open to trying out new fields, and non-fiction). Recently I've enjoyed Jane Harper's novels (The Dry etc); also Martin Cruz Smith's novels set in Russia, and Mick Herron (Slow Horses). A bit of a soft spot for Ursula Le Guin too. But I'd like to be introduced to other genres and authors. It would be good to meet in eachother's houses, or in Barter Books if they still offer that.

James (Stocksfield)

Seeking a book club

I'm James (29). Fiction-wise I'm into the classics, historical fiction, and humourist type books. Also big into non-fiction too, anything humanities related but mostly history. Would love to meet like-minded people and make book discussion a regular thing

It's clever and funny. Great characterisation - Ignatius O'Reilly is my new favourite character in all of fiction. I like the epistolary elements a lot too

I am 15 min walk from the Forum so easy to get to for book club meetings and the cinema. I am a very keen reader - open to all styles so welcome recommendations. I am keen to meet similar minded people - coming up to winter it is time get comfy with a good book!
