A brilliant book, intelligent and so broad in scope. It’s a real masterful intertwining of alternative, re-imagined history. Funny and poignant in parts.

Seeking a book club

I'm a 26 year old trans woman who loves satire, scifi, graphic novels and history books, looking for an inclusive reading group to help me get out a bit more and reconnect with reading for fun (I've been in a career with a lot of reading for a while so haven't had the time or energy to read really awesome books - hoping to get some good recommendations!)

AshleyRosa recommends:

I really enjoy the unreliable first person narrator - it makes the book flow differently to anything I've ever read before (the narrator has consistent memory problems and lies frequently.) The book paints an incredibly emotional and sympathetic portrait of an incredibly unsympathetic character - it captures the feeling of spiralling out of control in a really vivid way from a first person perspective.

I’ve never read a book like this and it had me totally gripped. It’s a mystery that honestly just had me guessing with every page and is - in my opinion - wonderfully written. If you do decide to read it, get ready to be intrigued, entertained and thoroughly confused (in the best way)!

I love reading and tend to get through a book a week. I'm a little staid in my choices mainly crime, drama and action. However, I am keen to expand my horizons and listen to other people's interpretations.

A lovely easy ready (only look me 24 hours) of young men who meet by chance and have an instant spark, they face challenges over personal ambition and the classic of coming out and being in love and true to them selves versus the continuing with the status quo and living up to their family values but remaining gut wrenchingly in happy. Lots of funny moments as well as moment one who was a young gay man in the closet and resonate with too… I couldn’t but this book down.
