Old woman with a lifelong reading addiction. Favourite writer: Charles Dickens, but I read a lot of history, some politics & biographies. Also keen fan of the Golden Age mysteries (principally Allingham, Sayers, Christie, Mitchell).

Samantha (Bournemouth)

Seeking a book club

I’m a keen reader and writer with a love for literature, poetry, and mythology. I enjoy everything from fantasy and gothic fiction to darker, more thought-provoking novels. I’m hoping to find a friendly, welcoming book group where I can discover new authors, share recommendations, have interesting conversations, and, most importantly, make some new friends. It would be lovely to meet like-minded people who enjoy a good book and a good chat, and to have something to look forward to outside of everyday life. I’m happy to explore different genres and would love to be part of a group where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts, even when we disagree about a book!

Eddie (Wimborne)

Seeking a book club

Hey there! My name is Eddie (20) I like working on motorcycles and enjoy combat sports but during my downtime I am trying to get into reading rather than doom-scrolling my life away. I love gritty-fantasy, crime investigation and have an obsession with Georgian era romance.

Eddie recommends:

Trollslayer by William King
Trollslayer

This book speaks to me in a lot of ways like no others do, its a gritty fantasy of a dwarf seeking death and the man that promised to record it. The main character felix has to struggle his way through every encounter and always has me on the edge of my seat. Amazing book.

Sean (Bournemouth)

Seeking a book club

Hi- I am already a member of a book group in Bournemouth but am also a local author. I'm an award winning playwright and was awarded the MBE in the New Year's honours list. I'm afraid my book is currently only available on Amazon at present so is not showing up on the link provided here.

Sean recommends:

Three Women and a Boy by Sean Aita
Three Women and a Boy
by Sean Aita | Learn more and buy
Self promotion is rather embarrassing so I will copy a reader review for you instead - 'An impressive, well-written book, it wonderfully captures the spirit of a boy’s bucolic life in England’s West Country during the late 60s and early 70s, through to his later years as an actor and director spanning England and Europe. Never boring, and (for a theatrical memoir) deeply free of ego, the stories and anecdotes of the three ladies that brought him up are heartwarming and amusing. A Herculean effort of memory by the writer, it manages, in its early pages, to capture the spirit of Laurie Lee’s Cider with Rosie with an ever-present mystery at its heart.

Ramis (Bournemouth)

Seeking a book club

Somewhat new to reading so I’m open to genres. Looking to make new friends and chat with others who enjoy reading. I’m a 21 year old dude and I’m interested in making friends around my age and in book clubs for young adults! While I am interested in hearing recommendations for all genres, I’m particularly keen on reading the literary classics that the video game “Limbus Company” derives its main cast from. So far I have read a handful of these and have enjoyed them a lot! Do contact me if you know any Bournemouth-based book clubs or just want to talk books! My Instagram is @coolramis if you’d rather contact me through non-email means.

Very short but enjoyable read. Straightforward and easy to read through. Despite its short nature, the book has some very interesting ideas and contains themes relating to existentialism and absurdism which I personally found very fascinating!
