Seeking a book club

Hi, I have just moved to Reading to start my master's. I got back into reading last year after losing my passion for it in school. I read mostly crime, psychological thrillers, and some mysteries. I also read some non-fiction books mainly on biology/health

Seeking a gaming group

Hi, I am looking for a group that a bunch of teen Dungeon and Dragons fans, schooled in Maidenhead, might be able to join and have regular games with a suitably aged and overseen group.

Seeking a book club

Hi! I’m 24 and have recently just moved to Reading. I love reading fiction, thrillers, mystery and romance books and enjoy chatting about them over a cup of coffee. I’ve not seen any book clubs posted but would love to know if there are any in the area, so that I can meet like minded people to discuss books with.

Seeking a book club

My current favourite type of novels are historical fiction with a bit of time slipping thrown in. I am currently re-reading 'The Forgotten Garden' by Kate Morton (who I love) just because January is the perfect month to start day-dreaming about secret walled gardens filled with ancient roses and apple trees. I also like psychological thrillers and clever crime mysteries and love books by unreliable narrators. Looking for a book group in this area because I think it would be fun to chat about a book that someone else has also read!

Benji (Bracknell)

Seeking a gaming group

Hi! I’m Benji, 40, proud nerd, and finally at a point in life where I can dive back into tabletop gaming. I played a fair bit of D&D and Warhammer as a kid, but it’s been a long time, so I’m very much a novice rediscovering the hobby. I’m looking to join a friendly local group where I can learn the ropes again, enjoy some good company, and sharpen my skills. My son and I are learning together, so I’m hoping to pick up enough experience to pass the fun on to him as well. I’m easygoing, enthusiastic, and up for anything, whether that’s a beginner‑friendly campaign, a casual group, or a table that doesn’t mind helping someone get back up to speed. Mostly, I’m just excited to roll some dice, meet new people, and get stuck into some adventures.

LawrenceB (Wokingham)

Seeking a book club

I'm actually looking to make contact with local book clubs with a different idea in mind. I'm a local published author who is looking to make contact with any book clubs who'd be interested in having an author come along on a completely informal basis to give a talk or maybe a Q&A regarding the writing process, creation of characters etc. I'm not looking to promote my book, that is already being taken care of, I just really enjoy attending events to encourage and discuss how it is possible for anyone to write if they put their mind to it. Also, not looking for fees or publicity. Thank you

I have read many books written by Ken Follet, but this was my first and I think it will also remain my favourite. I read Lie Down With Lions during a car journey and it was definitely an 'I can't put it down' experience. The tension in the final chapters as the Russian Army track the Afghanistan people across the mountains had me pushing on to find out how it ends. Also, the book was very informative with regard to the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, something that certainly resonates today.

Bookreader199 (Reading)

Seeking a book club

I am a newly-retired woman. I love reading as a way to relax and now have more time for it! I currently read mostly fiction - new and classics but am interested in recommendations from others and new genres. Would be lovely to find a local book club and meet some other readers in Twyford, Charvil, Reading or surrounding areas.

New to & obsessed with D&D, to the point I've been told I should DM. 😄However, would prefer to find one to help myself & other newbie-ish friends play F2F in Reading first! 40s (friends ages vary), up for storytelling, acting, character interaction, fights, lots of laughs & direct communication so everyone can play well together, learn & have fun. Must be LGBTQIA & ND friendly.
