Delaney (Slough)

Seeking a book club

Big fan of historical fiction types (Philippa Gregory, Ken Follett, etc) and narratives that explore events in other cultures/countries (the concentration camps, Chinese communist revolution, etc) in an easily accessible (i.e. easy to read!) manner, as it's like learning but fun! Love a bit of John Grisham, and dystopian realities (that aren't too heavy on the scifi) - just finally started Atwood's Oryx and Crake! I almost exclusively pick up my books from charity shops/car boots so tend to accumulate a decent range. Really enjoyed Dickens when I put the effort in but I've grown lazy and have a stack I've been putting off for years! Would love some morale support in facing some of these more challenging reads; as well as recommending and discussing more modern books :) I also have a huge interest in animal rights books if that's anyone else's jam too! Female, 31 and living in Slough :)

Delaney recommends:

World Wide X
by Max Brooks | Learn more and buy
Probably the first zombie book I've read (other than Cells by Stephen King, which I don't class as zombie genre - and also didn't rate!) despite being a huge consumer of zomb films and TV series. I'm choosing this as my book recommendation as it's the most recent read to hit my top 10 ever. Even if you aren't a horror fan, the portrayal of the global political consequences of the outbreak are fascinating. There's a ton of warfare info interwoven throughout too if you're familiar with war strategy and weapons (I'm not, but could just about follow along). On the lookout for more Max Brooks!

Seeking a book club

I'm 27, I enjoy non-fiction and fiction, but I've been trying to get into more fiction recently. I love reading, and I used to be a part of book club in my previous job, but now I'm in search of fellow book nerds.

Seeking a gaming group

Looking for a group that cherishes the character development and the story. Haven't had a chance to play much in the last couple of years. Maybe a bit more background... I've played for a few decades mostly D&D, AD&D 2nd, D&D 3rd, Pathfinder, Mechwarrior, WOD old and new, Shadowrun since 2nd, Warhammer Fantasy and Dark Heresy, etc

Seeking a gaming group

Im 18 years old and would like to find people around my age to play dnd with, I'm admittedly inexperienced after not playing for a few years aside from Baldurs Gate so I’d need a more experienced group willing to be patient.

Seeking a gaming group

Currently play D&D remotely with friends. I have a vast collection of board games and it's hard to find time to find people to play with. I'm looking to see what is about, looking to expand my connections in this area. Happy to play RPG's or boardgames.

30 something, looking to join in on a DnD campaign as a newbie. I have some-but very limited-knowledge of the game from obsessing over Monster Manuals and DM guides as a teen.

I'm moving to Thatcham at the start of next year and I was wondering if there are any places where people meet up to play board games or ttrpg's around the area.

Seeking a gaming group

Hi, my son is interested in DnD groups for all levels of experience. Not had physical experience playing DnD, only BG3 and other tabletop games. He is very enthusiastic and loves building characters/backgrounds. Don't mind travelling to Newbury etc. He needs the opportunity to socialise and do what he enjoys, as he is on the autistic spectrum.

Seeking a book club

I have recently got back into reading after a hiatus that coincided with having a baby. The baby I now 8 years old and I'm managing to read again! Would love to meet some new people, get out of my little bubble and read more and chat about reading. I enjoy 'easy' books that don't require too much brain power but also appreciate something a bit more meaty for time to time. Have just finished Shari Low's One Day with You, The Familiars was brilliant, really enjoying Mike Gayle's books, and the best book I may have ever read is Weyward by Emilia Hart.
