Chris
Seeking a book club
Hi everyone. My name is Chris Gill and I'm a local author who has had two novels traditionally published by Yorkshire publisher, Fisher King Publishing. My latest novel, 'The Butcher Boys', is a novel about two close friends growing up in rival butchers' shops in a Yorkshire Dales village in the 1970's and 80's and the challenges their search for identity poses to their precious friendship in adulthood. The novel is on sale in bookshops throughout the Dales and has featured favourably in an article in The Dalesman alongside James Herriot and Julia Chapman. I have presented The Butcher Boys in many events across the Dales and am now looking to visit local book clubs to talk about the novel and my writing life. If anyone is interested, please contact me by email at '[email protected]' or by text on my phone number 07956 336311. Thank you so much. I look forward to hearing from you. Very best wishes. Chris. 😊

Recently back living in Gargrave after a few years away, almost retired and missing my previous book group. I’m an avid reader of quality contemporary fiction but also open to reading other genres including travel and nature writing. Writers I particularly enjoy include Donna Tartt, Rose Tremain, William Boyd, Julian Barnes as well as younger writers like Sally Rooney. Happy to share hosting and set up a new group if there’s interest.

Hi, I am a mother to 4 sons, two of who are fully grown and left home, and two teenagers who are growing up too fast for my liking, that being said, I have a lot more time on my hands, so I’m starting to revisit all the things I love doing and haven’t always had the time for, and reading is one of them. I have always loved the idea of book groups, so here I am. Looking forward to joining!?!

Hi, I’ve always loved reading but now find it difficult to find a book that is “unputdownable”. Would welcome recommendations and an opportunity to meet new people/make new friends. No favourite genre although I don’t enjoy fantasy, and count Maggie O’Farrell and Mary Wesley among my favourite authors.
