The Secret Book Swap
Book club
The Secret Book Swap is a book group with a difference, starting with no set reading. Hereโs how it works: choose a book youโve read, enjoyed, and are ready to pass on to someone else, then wrap it upโkeep it simple or make it fancy, there are no rules, the choice is yours. Think about how you want to introduce your book, letting others know why you enjoyed it and why you think they would too, but without revealing the title or author, as it is a secret swap after all; you might include hints like โa heartwarming tale for lovers of adventureโ or โthis story made me laugh out loud,โ and feel free to bring notes if that helps. On the night, introduce your book to the group without giving too much away, then choose a book that catches your eyeโor rather, your earโand together weโll unwrap our books and chat about our finds. Each time we meet, weโre joined by a special local guest, and weโve been fortunate to welcome authors, poets, storytellers, publishers, illustrators, debut novelists, and international bestsellers, all sharing their own unique connection to books and stories. From book-themed parlour games to readings from banned books, we aim to make each event interactive, engaging, and memorable, while also creating space for community and connection, as weโve loved seeing friendships grow through a shared love of reading and storytelling.

Seeking a book club
Recently moved to the beautiful town of North Berwick a couple of months ago. Iโm an avid reader of contemporary literature with a particular new interest in climate fiction, however I will read most genres. Looking to meet some fellow book worms and hopefully some new friends. Iโm a new regular at the library and would love to join the group.

Lived in North Berwick for almost 3 years and would love to meet fellow book enthusiasts. I'll read pretty much anything, but what I love most are stories about people and the messy business of their relationships. Fredrik Backman is my absolute favourite (Anxious People and My Friends both got five stars off me), and I'm a big Marian Keyes, Dolly Alderton and Taylor Jenkins Reid fan. Loved Circe. I was an English teacher before starting my own education company, so books have been the through-line of my whole life, really. Would love to meet others nearby who feel the same.
