I am 67 and have a wide range of books I enjoy reading. Crime and thrillers are a good genre to chill out to, but I also like novels. My favourite recent books are The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Reid Jenkins, which is simply a novel, and the First 15 Lives of Harry August by Claire North, which is quite sci-fi. I don’t only read books with numbers in the title… Being able to meet up fortnightly or monthly would be nice.

The author shows great imagination and storytelling. At the outset I was worried in case it was some sort of copy of Kate Atkinson's 'Life After Life' (another of my favourite books) but it is very different.

Death is the narrator is one of the many beautiful things in this book. It is set in WW2 Germany and taken from the fresh perspective of a 12 year old who is living in this society that has been warped by anti-semitism.

It’s a rip roaring sci adventure but set in the New York Library. It’s an interstellar fight to the death but the main protagonist is bewildered by his entry and his young daughter is teleported into the contest with him! It’s thrilling and funny and touching.

The Crucifix Killer

It’s pretty gruesome but thrilling and gripping and at times quite funny. The leads are likeable and well rounded. It’s a bit outlandish but like watching a good film on Netflix!
