Malcolm (Sanquhar)

Seeking a book club

Hey, I'm an avid bookworm and I am wanting to join a local book group if I can. I work quite early so it would have to be a afternoon or evening meet up I can go to. I enjoy a wide variety of books but the main reason I want to join a group is to meet like minded people.

Sue McCormick (Dumfries)

Seeking a book club

I am an actor turned writer, living in Moniaive. My cosy crime novel Red As Any Blood has just been published by Honno Press and is available in all bookshops and online. It's the first in a series - The Holly and Ivy Christmas Mysteries. The 2nd will be out next year. If your book club is interested in Red As Any Blood, I am happy to come along to a session to read for you and have a chat.

Ian Hughes (Dumfries)

Seeking a book club

Storm Child by Ian Hughes He was born into chaos. Raised by silence. And forged by every storm that tried to break him. Storm Child is a raw, lyrical memoir of a boy who grows up amid abandonment, abuse, and relentless adversity—and still dares to hope. Ian Hughes takes readers deep into the turbulent heart of a childhood scarred by trauma, tracing the painful memories and moments of grace that shaped him. From cold nights spent in fear to fleeting moments of connection, this is the story of a child forced to become his own protector, truth-teller, and guide. It’s also a story of light—of the resilience that emerges when a child refuses to disappear into the shadows. Unflinching, haunting, and ultimately redemptive, Storm Child is not just a memoir. It’s a voice for every survivor who was told to stay silent. A beacon for those still weathering the storm. And a testament to the truth: ACES matter. And healing is possible.

Arandight (Dumfries)

Seeking a gaming group

Hello. I have been an experienced 5E DND player for over 10 years now. I previously had a dnd group with friends however unfortunately we have not had a session in a year or two. I have always been someone who enjoys the story and role playing aspect of the game as well as combat and enjoy experiencing not only the adventure for my character but learning of other individuals experiences and stories through the campaign. I am looking for a campaign with rich storytelling and can be flexible in my playing style for a DM and other players.

I read a lot of fantasy and I'm currently trying to expand what genres I read. None of my friends are book readers, so being able to meet other people who read as much as I do would be nice.

While the Stormlight Archive is my absolute favourite series from Sanderson, Mistborn Era 1 will always be special to me for being the first series I read through.

Iain (Dumfries)

Seeking a book club

I read sporadically and feel a book club would keep me more structured in reading. I like crime, investigative and undiscovered Scottish writers but generally would give any book a shot. Dont judge a book as they say. Meeting up weekly or fortnightly would suit.
