Long time reader but never joined a book club. I've done both my BA and MA in English and Writing and miss the discussions that we had as a group of book lovers! I'm 38, living in Redcar, and keen to find other readers, or writers, to discuss all things books with.

Kirby (Redcar)

Seeking a book club

Hi, my name is Kirby, I am 30 years old and really want to find some people(or just one) who have similar interests. I have spent the past 5 years being really poorly and constantly in hospital, I was just a month ago discharged after a 10-month long admission and figured life is too short and now is the time to start spending time & effort on things I enjoy and hopefully make some friends in the process x

Genna (Stockton-on-Tees)

Seeking a book club

Happy Little bookworm, mum of 2 (plus a cat) and lover of food, wine and travel, looking to make connections with like minded book lovers for friendship and book recs. I will read most things however find my favourite genres are thriller, crime, a bit of horror and currently lots of fantasy/YA type stuff - think SJM and Rebecca Yarros. All time favourite author still remains Stephen King however !! would like to meet a group or individuals to chat books and life with, would be happy to do a walk and talk, coffee shop hang out or something less "peopley" (think online catch up).

Genna recommends:

Insomnia by Stephen King

This was my first Stephen King book when i was about 12, his story telling and world building was like nothing id ever read before and i was hooked. The characters are relatable and likeable and you become so attached especially to the MC. I found the story unlike any other and have gone back and done a few re-reads which is unusual for me.

Chris (Redcar)

Seeking a book club

I would like to broaden my reading which is mainly books in translation, historical fiction or re-reading the classics. My favourite novel as a child was Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra.

Chris recommends:

The Door to Door Bookstore

Easy-reading, set in a European town, not your typical character casting (72 year old book salesman and a nine year old child in a yellow raincoat). Heart-warming story, well-written.

Tobie (Middlesbrough)

Seeking a book club

Hi I'm Tobie, a Middlesbrough native bookworm and nature enthusiast, who loves absorbing as many books as possible from the comfort of my mini library (bedroom). I'm down for whatever genre, but I do enjoy fantasy, sci-fi and the occasional political feminist book. My favourite authors overall are David Attenborugh, Sarah J. Maas and Lucy Score. I love adventure, so I'm happy to meet wherever is most convinent for all parties. Unfortunately, I am busy most days (bummer, I know), so I'm mainly accessable via online discussions. Can't wait to meet you, maybe we'll share similar taste? :)

Tobie recommends:

The Perks of Being a Wallflower
by Stephen Chboosky | Learn more and buy
A beautiful coming of age story that discusses vulnerability with such poetic descriptions. Mentioning topics of mental health and suicide, testing social boundaries and building new relationships as well as providing a younger insight into managing anxiety and social awkwardness.
