I love reading fiction of various genres excluding fantasy. Favourite authors include Zadie Smith, Tracy Chevalier, Sarah Waters, Elizabeth Strout, Clare Chambers, Elif Shafik, Frederik Blackma, Paula Hawkins, Ian Mc Ewan. Would be interested in joining or starting a small (6-8 people) book group in North Bristol.

I love this author's ability to bring different eras of history to life through the depth and complexity of her characters.

Hii I am 18 and I adore reading books and binge watching Netflix its like my way to escape reality. I love fantasy thats my favourite genre reading books about faeries and dragons. I usually get my book recommendations from booktok (yes I know its a bit cliche).

I love the world-building! The plot focuses more on the political side which gives it an edge from the other fantasy books that I've read. Each chapter keeps you thinking and on your toes. Having a female main character that's ambitious and dangerous, and not the usual damsel-in-distress is refreshing. You'll be surprised by how she improvises her plan along the way, builds connections and allies, cashes in favors, manipulates certain situations and executes her plans while keeping her family safe in the world of faerie. The development of enemies to lovers is just perfect and didn't feel rushed. I enjoyed their banters and how trust is developed on both sides. I don't think Holly Black receives much praise for how well-written this is, most especially for not letting the romance outshine the political side of the story. It's witty, refreshing and definitely a must-read!

Wendy017 (Bristol)

Seeking a book club

Hi I'm wendy. I'm in my fifties and am an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction, but mainly fiction. I particularly enjoy psychological thrillers and women's fiction. I'm looking to either join a book club, or to meet up with people to talk about books that we can read together. There's nothing more frustrating than enjoying a fabulous book, and having no-one to talk to about it.

I love history, and so the perspectives throughout time were interesting to me in this one. The fluidity of Woolf’s perspective transcends gender also, which I loved.
