Dan (Leeds)

Seeking a book club

When I was a kid, I was an avid reader, especially for long fantasy novels, but I had fallen off along the way. I have recently started to get back into reading and have taken an interest in the romance genre, which I had barely touched before. I am open to broadening my horizons with some choice recommendations and would love to meet up and get to know other readers.

Dan recommends:

The Wandering Inn by Pirateaba

A high fantasy world with grounded and brutally realistic stakes. The series is incredibly long, and a very slow and difficult start, but the payoff with the world building and character drama is practically unbeatable. Please note this book may not be for anyone who is not looking to read material that covers sensitive topics and there are very visceral and uncomfortable depictions of triggering topics such as assault, PTSD, and racial discrimination. Please read the trigger warnings and proceed with caution.
Seraphina by Rachel Hartman

A romance/fantasy/ political drama about a musician who has a secret heritage. I especially appreciate the musical references and the unique world building.

Melania (Leeds)

Seeking a book club

Hello! My name is Melania, I am in my 40s (still feel like 20) and I am Italian! I have been living in the UK for almost 15 years and I love reading and writing, photography and crafting. I read meanly romance, particularly dark romance. Some of my favourite writers are: Harley Laroux, J Rose, Ali Hazelwood, Angel Lawson and Samatha Rue. I would love to meet other readers that share my passion for books and maybe take part to a dark romance book club.

Layla (Dewsbury)

Seeking a book club

Hello, I'm here to find some fellow bibliophiles, to share recs and bond over books - potentially over cups of life-giving tea. Love fantasy for the pure escapism it provides, and also shamelessly enjoy self-help books. Open to trying different genres too. Want to expand my reading horizons with meaningful or thought provoking literature when the fancy arises. Current read: The Name of the Wind. Recently read: When the Moon Hatched, Atomic Habits. Up next TBR: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Some favourite authors: Sarah J. Maas - ToG/ACOTAR, Nalini Singh, Juliet Marillier Want to join a local book club for those of us in Kirklees/Leeds

June Sunshine (Bingley)

Seeking a book club

Hi. I hope to join a book club in my local area. I love romance and relationship novels, but also enjoy psychological thrillers & other works of fiction. I would like to read more as I seem to be doing less & less. My hope is to combine this with meeting new people; home-working is great in many ways, but it can be isolating.

Vee (Halifax)

Seeking a gaming group

Hi, never played newbie here (...but about a years worth of hyper-focus in). My kids have recently turned into grown ups so with my newly acquired spare time I'm interested in joining a DnD group of dry humoured individuals for a regular campaign meet up. I'm really interested in DM-ing so it would be great to find a group who don't mind lots of questions!
