Alice (Bristol)

Seeking a book club

Hi I'm Alice! I've never actually read that much but when I do I really enjoy it, and I thought a good way to get myself to while maybe meeting some people is to join a book club. I'm interested in mystery, sci-fi/fantasy and horror but I'm not really sure what authors I'd like. My other hobbies would be drawing and video games, and I have a special interest in transformers.

Hiya. I’m Finely, 22. I really want to get into playing D&D. I’ve never had the chance to play with people before and I’m not sure of all of the rules of the game but I’d love to get the chance to play in a campaign :))

James (Bristol)

Seeking a gaming group

James Gold Hi there, I just moved to Bristol from Cardiff. I made some lifelong friends there through DnD. I was both player and DM - i think this time id like to be player. I love story driven campaigns, combat has its place of course, but I'm much more interested in making the character choice over min maxing, and above the character choice should come whats best for the story, and above that the party! I love getting into character, and usually use a different tone or accent to distinguish if its me speaking or the character. Aside from silliness and role play, I love getting to know people and im generally a happy lil guy. DMing is hard as well, so happy to assist if needed. Also snacks... I also bring snacks and occasionally a beer or two. Let me know if you think id fit in with your table! Happy to meet beforehand as its a big commitment :)

I’m always keen to try new systems, and also have tonnes of books and starter sets I’d like to see played: Vaesen, Mythic Bastionland, Heart, Blade Runner, Mothership, Troika!, Daggerheart, the Dee Sanction, etc etc. Always happy to DM or to be a player :)

Urgh. The perfect story. Strong protagonist, rags to riches, an incredibly suave mentor character… I love it so much.

Lajos (Bristol)

Seeking a gaming group

Hello! I'd like to form a tabletop RPG party with 2-4 people who want to play regularly. I'm a bit old school, have GM experience, and haven't played for a while. Preferred systems: Vampire: Masquerade, Dark Ages; Earthdawn 2nd ed.; Shadowrun 2nd ed.; Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd, 4th or 1st ed (I haven't played in this world yet). I started learning about Daggerheart, but it's quite a new experience for me. Unfortunately, the D&D isn't interested in me: there are better worlds/systems out there. Thanks.

Claire (Bristol)

Seeking a book club

I like to read horror books, mysteries, and police procedurals. From authors like Rick Wood, Chris Carter, and Richard Osman. I would like to find a group in South Bristol in the evening where I can discover new authors and read some things outside of my norm.

Claire recommends:

The Hangman's Daughter
by Oliver Potzch | Learn more and buy
This is a historical murder mystery set in Schongau, Bavaria, in the mid-1600s. Jakob is the village hangman, and his daughter, Magdalena, is headstrong and determined to control her own life. The book is clever, and the characters are believable, particularly as the hangman is based on the author's ancestor.

Coreyo (Bristol)

Seeking a gaming group

Hi, I'm Corey, been in Bristol 2-3 years now and looking for a gaming group! Would love to meet some new people and get some games going, along with some cold beverages of course! 😎 New to TTRPGs as I've never been able to find a group to play with, although I do have a general understanding of DnD rules through watching videos / playing BG3. I'm available for long running campaigns but still happy to join in shorter ones / one-shots, particularly initially to ensure that we get along as a group. I'm based in Ashley Down but happy to go wherever as long as there's a bus route from here. Let's get something going! 🤠

Dan (Bristol)

Gaming group

Looking for a family-friendly RPG group. Happy to try new RPGs or stick to popular ones, wanting to find a ttrpg group in North/East Bristol for myself and my 13 yr old son whose DnD GM moved away. We've got most experience with DnD 5e but also played a little Call of Cthulhu and Forbidden Lands, and I'm happy to DM or to be a player. Probably aiming for some trial one-shots first, but could commit to a campaign if the logistics work.

Nigel (Bristol)

Seeking a book club

I'm a retired doctor, author and painter based in Eastville. I've mostly read historical and literary fiction but I'm exploring new-to-me genres such as Sci Fi and Sci Fantasy to find authors I like.

Nigel recommends:

Fraud by Zadie Smith
Fraud
by Zadie Smith | Learn more and buy
A dive into what freedom means for women of a certain age and for people with Afro-Caribbean heritage, the scars and humiliations of centuries of slavery, the question of reparations. I still puzzle over the motivations of Andrew Bogle but I admire the way that Zadie brings him alive and articulate. A great novel much maligned or misunderstood in other reviews.
